The latest protest by the “everyone gets a trophy, no one loses, everything is done for them, hide in safe spaces, entitled generation” activists is a demand that at least 50% of white male authors be removed from the curriculum of Notre Dame University

The protest was led by the group “End Hate at Notre Dame.” Their full list of demands (see below )includes decolonizing academia (whatever that means) and implementing diversity training In each dorm.  I lived in an all-male dorm during my freshman year of college, To be honest instead of diversity training, in all-male dorms, they should implement “clean your freaking room” training.

“No course or program of study should have a view limited to white, western, and/or male voices,” the group says. “We demand that people who are of Color, Indigenous, Black, queer, or not male are represented in the authorship of at least half course and major required readings. Diversifying the canon helps eliminate the violence of only privileging white scholarship.”

The idea is just one of the  demands of a group calling itself “End Hate at Notre Dame.” Do they even see that they are spewing hatred toward white males as part of their demands? I doubt it. This whole protest is being portrayed as “an effort to eliminate the violence of only privileging white scholarship.”

The group claims, “Homogeneous spaces allow hate to fester,” accusing “white people at this predominantly white institution” of allowing “slurs, prejudice, and hate speech” to occur unchecked.

Additionally, End Hate at ND is pressing for an end to “parietals,” a long-standing policy that forbids students from being in undergraduate residence halls of the opposite sex late at night or during early morning hours.

I have no problem with students spending the night in the dorms of the opposite sex now that my daughter is out of college. Truthfully,  I did that often when I was in college, and sometimes the females would stay in my dorm. I found that practice was delightful most times.

The full list of demands per College Fix:

“Cultural competence is key in building empathy for marginalized folks. No course or program of study should have a view limited to white, western, and/or male voices. We demand that people who are of Color, Indigenous, Black, queer, or not male are represented in the authorship of at least half course and major required readings. Diversifying the canon helps eliminate the violence of only privileging white scholarship. Everyone should see themselves represented in coursework. End Hate at Notre Dame

Per Faye Higbee at Conservative Firing Line,  Notre Dame is a Catholic University. These activists met with Father Bob Loughery at Sorin Hall as he read from the book of Luke.

That’s Luke, the apostle, not the Jedi. As a Jew living in the holy land 2100 years ago, St. Luke probably had dark skin, but I don’t know if End Hate at Notre Dame will count the Gospels as diversity and count it as achieving their demands.

Just like the need to read the Gospel of Luke at a Catholic University, Many historical tomes were written by white authors, and are must-reads for any college student depending on their major.  But  I have an idea to cut back on white male authors without really cutting back. When American history classes have to read The Federalist Papers make them read every other word. Their literature classes can include Orwell’s Nineteen -Four. I always through the title of the play by Arthur Kopit. “Oh Dad, Poor Dad, Mamma’s Hung You in the Closet and I’m Feelin’ So Sad” was way too long. But “Dad, Dad, Hung In Closet And Feelin’ Sad” would save so much space.
