In what could be the first test of elections in 2024, Louisiana AG Jeff Landry was elected Governor of the state by a large margin on Saturday. Landry was endorsed by President Trump and backed by the GOP. The election flipped the state red after 8 years of Democrat control under the term-limited Democrat Governor John Bel Edwards.

The election results gave Landry a landslide victory in the state’s “jungle” election. He received 51.6% to the Democrat’s 25.9%. Because he received over 50% of the vote, there was no need for a runoff.

Republicans should pay attention to Landry’s platform: anti-crime, pro-life, pro-parent, anti-woke agenda. Until Republicans get some cojones, they’ll lose elections. Mr. Landry was firm in his stances, giving “no quarter” to the opposition.

Landry is a former U.S. congressman from Louisiana’s 3rd district, a seat he held from 2011 to 2013. In 2016, he was elected attorney general of Louisiana and was easily re-elected four years later. Saturday’s gubernatorial election was the first major contest preceding the 2024 elections…

Landry ran on getting crime under control and improving the economy and public school system. His campaign website blasts “woke” district attorneys for being soft on crime, and he says that as governor, Louisiana would “hold everyone, and I mean everyone, accountable for violent crime.” He describes himself as a “fearless champion” for the pro-life cause, receiving a 100% score from the National Right to Life.

The governor-elect has also been a strong voice for parental rights in education, saying he would sign a parental rights bill as governor and pledging to stop the “woke agenda” in schools throughout the state.” Daily Wire

Remember that the “polls” suggested that neither Jeff Landry nor Democrat Shawn Wilson would reach the threshold for winning. The election contained independents as well as the GOP and Democrat candidates. If the GOP can produce a major win in Louisiana’s “jungle primary,” it can do so anywhere else. If they pay attention to the will of the people instead of the polls.
