The Trump administration is ending the preferential treatment for so-called “green” energy (which isn’t green and often isn’t even energy).
On Thursday, the Department of the Interior announced that preferential treatment for solar and wind energy will be coming to an end.
“By removing these artificial advantages, the Department is levelling the playing field for dispatchable, cost-effective and secure energy sources, such as clean coal and domestic natural gas, after years of assault under the previous administration,” a news release from Interior said.
“These actions mark a return to common-sense permitting standards that support national security, grid stability and American job creation,” the Interior Dept. said in a statement.
The move is in line with Trump’s Energy Dominance agenda and follows Trump’s executive order entitled “Ending Market Distorting Subsidies for Unreliable, Foreign-Controlled Energy Sources” as well as the passing of the recent budget bill.
“As part of this effort, the Department will address provisions in the One Big Beautiful Bill Act to eliminate longstanding right-of-way and capacity fee discounts for existing and future wind and solar projects, bringing an end to years of subsidies for economically unviable energy development,” the release added.
Acting Assistant Secretary for Lands and Minerals Management Adam Suess noted that Interior is moving tto “further deliver on President Trump’s promise to tackle the Green New Scam and protect the American taxpayers’ dollars.
This is more great news from the Trump administration.
Green energy is not up to the task of powering our needs. Plus, it is in no way green. In some cases, so-clled “green” energy is even worse on the environment than coal, gas, or oil.
