With all the talk about how far out of whack the Democrats are, they aren’t so far gone that no one will vote for them. And if Republicans want to keep winning in the coming 2026 midterms, there is something they must do or the Democrats will gain the upper hand despite how bad they are.
A look at the polls — and more importantly, the actual votes — shows that Democrats are not exactly at subterranean levels. Yes, they are on the outs and on the downtrend. But they are so far gone that GOP missteps can’t help them surge back. At least, not yet.
Consequently, as CNN’s Scott Jennings points out, the Republicans could make a major misstep that could lead to that Democrat surge.
“Failure is not an option,” Jennings said. “And as a message to the Republicans, you have to pass the president’s agenda. You have to cut taxes for the American people,” especially since it’s such a “huge” issue. “And it’s good policy, but it’s also good politics. Right now, the biggest bright line, and you’re going to see this argued for weeks between the Republicans and the Democrats, other than immigration, which is huge, is on taxes,” he said.
“President Trump wants to cut them. The Democrats want to raise them, and the Republicans need to get behind the commander in chief and do it,” he added.
Sear this into your brain ahead of the Midterms:
President Trump wants to cut your taxes. Democrats want to raise them.

This is just the point.
So, far, the GOP has done about nothing whatever to help President Trump get his agenda put into actions. The GOP has done absolutely nothing to get the Trump agenda codified into law.
And if they don’t, the voters will punish them for it. So, they better get a move on.
