The next wave of intrusive traffic cameras is fanning out across the nation that will take video of EVERY driver that passes them to hand out traffic tickets for not wearing a seat belt or texting while driving.
No longer is there even a pretext of lawbreaking. Whereas previous cameras were relegated to traffic signal duties, and only take images of cars that go through red lights, the next generation will take images of every single driver whether they are violating any laws or not.
Naturally, big spending government leeches LOVE these new cameras because their “revenue” increases dramatically when these liberty-destroying systems are put in place.
The AI-powered traffic camera system made by the Australian company Acusensus is called “Heads Up,” according to NBC News.
“The Heads Up cameras take pictures of every vehicle that passes by them, capturing images of their license plates, as well as their front seats. AI analyzes the images and determines how likely it is that a violation occurred, assigning each one a ‘confidence level,'” the news outlet reported.
They have proved popular in the UK and Australia where citizens have no constitutionally guaranteed freedoms. But they are also filtering into the U.S.A. and are currently being used in Georgia and North Carolina.
Already, tax hungry politicians in those states are thrilled with the results.
Acusensus says that in North Carolina “The program has seen 6 times more seatbelt violations and 9 times more mobile phone violations per month in the first two months of the program in 2023 compared to the previous years before the program commenced.”
Naturally, the company pretends that your data — the photos of your face tied to your license plate — are not being saved. But we know these are lies. They always tell us the “data isn’t being saved” and we always find out later that it most certainly has.
Worse, there is currently no legal safeguards whatever for drivers. No laws governing what is done with that data. We only have their word that the data is not saved, stored, or even sold to third parties. And we know they cannot be trusted.
This is a massive intrusion and violation of personal privacy. The government has no right to look inside our vehicles just for driving down the street.
