Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis has a new pledge for his plans for the federal government if he were to become president, and they are grand, indeed. He wants to get rid of some of the unconstitutional departments that conservatives have targeted for decades.
DeSantis has been struggling to get attention in this current election cycle. However, he has picked up several key endorsements, has had success at fundraising, and seems to be the second-most favorite candidate for the GOP nomination — though often quite a bit behind Donald Trump. As of June 30, 2023, Donald Trump had a colossal 30.9% lead over the second candidate,
The new DeSanits pledge may cause many conservatives to jump on the bandwagon of those policies.

“I’m going to use those agencies to push back against woke ideology and against the leftism that we see creeping into all institutions of American life,” DeSantis said.
Each of those departments deserves to be killed except one, the IRS. The IRS may be the most hated American institution. On the other hand, it collects the tax revenue necessary to keep this county going. It’s true that, at times, the IRS actions seem despotic, but these types of IRS actions can be fixed with congressional or executive action (whichever is the correct method).
“If Congress will work with me on doing that, we’ll be able to reduce the size and scope of government,” the Florida governor said in an interview with Fox News’ Martha MacCallum. “If Congress won’t go that far, I’m going to use those agencies to push back against woke ideology and against the leftism that we see creeping into all institutions of American life.”
Per Breitbart News:
After DeSantis said he would “bring major accountability to the DOJ, to the FBI, IRS.” Host Martha MacCallum asked, “Are you in favor of eliminating any agencies? I know conservatives in the past have talked about closing the Department of Education. Would you do that?”
DeSantis answered, “So, we would do Education, we would do Commerce, we’d do Energy, and we would do IRS. And so, if Congress will work with me on doing that, we’ll be able to reduce the size and scope of government.”
He continued, “But what I’m also going to do, Martha, is be prepared if Congress won’t go that far, I’m going to use those agencies to push back against woke ideology and against the leftism that we see creeping into all institutions of American life. So, for example, with the Department of Education, we reverse all the transgender sports stuff, women’s sports should be protected. We reverse policies trying to inject the curriculum into our schools. That will all be gone. We will make sure we have an accreditation system for higher ed., which is not trying to foment more things like DEI and CRT. So, we’ll be prepared to do both. Either way, it’ll be a win for conservatives.”
OK. This is all good stuff.
