On Friday night, Newark Mayor Ras Baraka, a Democratic candidate for New Jersey governor, was taken into custody after trespassing at an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) facility in Newark. He was ultimately released after the incident. As reported by the Wall Street Journal.
According to Alina Habba, the interim U.S. attorney for New Jersey, Baraka ignored multiple warnings from Homeland Security to leave the ICE center in Newark before he was taken into custody. As reported by the Wall Street Journal
“He has willingly chosen to disregard the law,” Habba said on X. “That will not stand in this state.” Habba, a former attorney for President Trump who was tapped to lead the federal prosecutor’s office in New Jersey in March, told Fox News he would be charged.
Baraka, a Democrat who is running for governor, was at the Delaney Hall detention center in Newark several times this week, spokesman Kabir Moss said. On Friday, he was joined by several members of New Jersey’s congressional delegation who tried to enter the facility with him, said Moss.
One reason voters elected Donald Trump is they wanted him to address the surge in illegal immigration created by whoever was running the government during the Biden presidency. President Trump prioritized border security and the deportation of criminal aliens. Under his directives, Tom Homan, the administration’s “”Border Czar,” “managed the deportation of approximately 139,000 criminal illegal aliens by April—out of an estimated 700,000 in the country.
Unfortunately, these efforts have faced fierce opposition from the Democrats, who seem intent on blocking enforcement measures in opposition to the will of the voters. Democratic Party politicians are actively working against policies that reflect public demand for stricter immigration controls. In their view, voters lack the understanding or are too ‘stupid to recognize what’s best for them. Therefore, Democrats are prioritizing their anti-Trump narratives over trying to develop programs to help Americans. They say Trump is bad for the country, But the real issue is That President Trump is bad for their egos.
The Democratic Party’s Misplaced priorities might benefit the GOP. If the Democrats continue to focus more on undermining Trump and attempting to oust him from office than on addressing the core concerns of the electorate, they will continue down the road to obscurity that began in 2015 when Donald and Melania Trump came down an escalator in Trump Tower.
