The fast food industry in California is on the verge of firing thousands of workers because of the left-wing state’s destructive new law forcing restaurants to pay a $20 an hour Minimum Wage. And… of course… now the leftists in the state want that wage forced on every sector of the state’s economy — a move that will cost tens of thousands of jobs and shut down businesses throughout the state.
Several pizza chains have already eliminated hundreds of employees. Other restaurants have begun setting up automated systems so that they, too, can eliminate as many employees as possible.
That is because the new wage law is driving businesses to take extraordinary measures to save money.
With all this economic destruction just beginning, of COURSE the leftist loons in Sacramento want to make it all so much worse.

FOX Business spoke with Saru Jayaraman, president of One Fair Wage, to discuss what she described as the skyrocketing levels of home insecurity and food insecurity post-pandemic.
Fast food workers winning a $20 minimum wage, she said, “was just the beginning.”
Jayaraman pointed to the exorbitantly high cost of living in the Golden State, where, in some counties, an individual would need a $40 an hour salary to live comfortably.
“People are leaving the state or are not having children, not having families. These are all the very basics we should be thinking about for humans living in California and needing to survive,” Jayaraman told FOX Business. “I mean the level of crisis that people have been enduring since the pandemic is severe.”
That is more YOUR fault, Jayarama, than it is the fault of any business. Communist ideas, wasteful government spending, and fascist government takeovers of the business sector is causing the problems you are citing, not the fact that the Minimum Wage is too low.
The Minimum Wage was never, ever meant to allow someone to “live comfortably.” And boosting it to $20 won’t afford anyone that “comfort,” either.
All that will happen is more won’t get a job at all and many will lose the one they have.
