Last week the Michigan State Senate pushed out a new bill that bans concealed cary license holders from carrying their firearms in the capitol building and offices in Lansing. Naturally, this new rule is not for “everyone” because they exempted themselves from the ban.

The bill was pushed through as the current legislative session comes to an end and done so to prevent the next senate from tabling it. Further, the bill was approved 20-16 even though CCL holders have been allowed to carry in the capital without incident for decades.

A broad gun ban rule was adopted already in 2023, but the bill passed last week would make that into a law, and not just an operating rule.

Worse, the Democrats want to make this an actual law, not just a rule, because it’s for the children, don’t you know. After all, as Democrat Sen. Dayna Polehanki said, thousands of school kids visit the Capitol each year and she is concerned that there are GUUUUUNNNSSS there when they visit.

So, won’t it be all warm and fuzzy for the kidos not to worry about guns being around them when they visit the seat of state government? The… the guns that are concealed and that they have no idea are there in the first place? Yeah, those.

Well, not that all guns are to be barred.

According to the Detroit News:

Under the bills, a lawmaker with a concealed pistol license would still be able to carry a weapon in the buildings.

If guns are so scary around kids, why do they think the guns hidden under the coasts of senators are any less dangerous?

But, let’s face it. We wouldn’t want Michigan Democrats to be held to the same rules as everyone else, now would we?

Heck, that just wouldn’t be fair.
