A bride has gone crying to social media after her wedding guests humiliated her by taking a pass on her vegan dinner plans. But what they did next is hilarious.
The disgruntled bride recently rolled out her tale of woe on Reddit where she whined that she spent $15,000 on a wedding event when she hired a chef “to create a gourmet 5-course meal that just happened to be vegan.”
The 28-year-old bride added that the meal included mushroom wellington, truffle risotto and roasted vegetable tart.
“We deliberately didn’t mention the food was vegan on the invitations because we wanted people to enjoy it without prejudice,” she wrote on Reddit. “Every dish was designed to be delicious and satisfying, regardless of dietary preference.”
However, even her own brother, Tom, was not very pleased to be stuck with the vegan meal. And so, the guests took matters into their own hands.
“Twenty minutes later, I watched in horror as he and my cousins walked in carrying 20 large pizzas. They started distributing them to guests, announcing ‘Real food for anyone who wants it!'” the humiliated bride wrote.
“I was mortified. The caterers looked so embarrassed, and several guests hadn’t even tried our carefully planned menu yet,” she added.
The aggrieved bride went on to complain that the “pizza completely upstaged our expensive gourmet meal.”
But it got worse. The guests thought the whole thing was hilarious.
“People were taking photos and treating it like a joke. My mother-in-law posted on Facebook about how her son’s wedding was ‘saved by pizza’ because the bride tried to ‘force everyone to eat rabbit food,'” she wrote.
before the event was over, she said she was crying er eyes out at her own wedding.
In response to his new wife’s discomfort, the bride’s husband kicked the pizza partiers out of the wedding.
That just made matters worse, she said.
“This caused a scene, and now half the family is calling us stuck-up and saying we ruined our own wedding by ‘pushing our beliefs’ on everyone,” she wrote. “They’re saying we should have warned people about the vegan menu.”
The bide may have expected people to support her angst over her wedding. But few agreed. Indeed, most felt that she neglected to tell her guests about the vegan meal because she knew everyone would avoid the wedding like the plague.
One commenter properly noted that the bride is exactly why people dislike vegans.
