Extreme left-wing Illinois Senator Dick Durbin recently took to the floor of the U.S. Senate to demand that illegal border crossers be allowed to join the U.S. military to gain automatic citizenship. But one has to wonder why he wants an army filled with foreign nationals who have no ties or fealty to America in a force that is meant to protect America?
Durbin insisted that the discussion about the border crisis is only “one-half of the immigration equation,” according to RealClearPolitics.
He agreed that our immigration system is broken and needs to be fixed. Still, he went on to say that we need these illegals because “there’s also an incredible demand for legal immigration into this country, even now.”
This, of course, is a facile description of our situation. We may need — heck, we even want — new immigrants. But the illegals we are getting now are NOT the sort of desirable additions to the country that we want. What is streaming across our border are criminals, terrorists, thieves, and uneducated masses bringing disease, poverty, and reliance on government handouts, and who just want to send all the U.S. dollars they earn home to their families outside the USA. What we WANT is educated, driven immigrants who want to become Americans, live here, adopt our ethos, and raise their families as Americans.
Senator Durbin wasn’t done suggesting ways to upend our lives. He also wants the dregs that are swamping our borders to take up arms in our own armed forces.
The presiding officer, my colleague from the state of Illinois, has legislation which addresses one aspect of that. Her bill — and I hope I describe it accurately — says that if you are an undocumented person in this country and you can pass the physical and the required test, background test, the like, that you can serve in our military, and if you do it honorably, we will make you citizens of the United States.
Do we need that? Do you know what the recruiting numbers are at the Army and the Navy and the Air Force? They can’t reach their quotas each month. They can’t find enough people to join our military forces. And there are those who are undocumented who want the chance to serve and risk their lives for that country. Should we give them a chance? I think we should.
This is the same Dick Durbin who, back in 2005, said that U.S. soldiers are just like the Nazis.
But now he wants to fill our military ranks with illegals who did not grow up respecting soldiers, have no respect or love for America, nor care for our communities, our history, and our ideals.
Gee, now. Let’s take a second to wonder who this man envisions sending these foreign nationals out to get?
One of the ideas that many American patriots have consoled themselves with for decades is that an out-of-control federal government would have a hard time getting the U.S. Army to shoot down Americans in the streets because our soldiers are patriotic Americans, too. And as patriotic Americans, they would rebel against officers if they were used domestically against other Americans.
But what if the U.S. Army was filled with men and women who not only aren’t patriotic Americans but who don’t even speak our language? And what if the only reason they are in the Army at all is to get free stuff from the government?
Would soldiers like this be less squeamish about gunning down Americans in the streets? One might think they wouldn’t hesitate to follow such orders.
It certainly makes one ask the question, doesn’t it?
So, who, exactly, does Dick Durbin want to send an army of foreign nationals out to gun down?
