Just as the holidays approach, the State of California is now preparing to follow through and begin fining stores that have failed to make their toy sections “gender neutral” to further push the extreme LGB and transgender agenda on children.
In October, the far, far-left state legislature passed a bill and debate-losing state Gov. Gavin Nuisance signed into law, a measure that forces brick-and-mortar stores to stop selling toys to “boys” and “girls” and instead to make their signage and decorations “gender neutral.”
As the Daily Mail reported at the time:
Large department stores must now display products like toys and toothbrushes in gender neutral ways – a win for LGBT advocates who say the pink and blue hues of traditional marketing methods pressure children to conform to gender stereotypes.
The new law, however, does not completely outlaw traditional boys and girls sections at department stores. Instead, it says large stores must also have a gender neutral section to display ‘a reasonable selection’ of items ‘regardless of whether they have been traditionally marketed for either girls or for boys’.
The prescribed penalties will be imposed now that the law is set to go into effect on Jan. 1.
According to the Daily Caller, “Stores that do not comply with the law could face a civil penalty and charged $250 after the first offense or $500 for later offenses.”
This comes even as many retailers already report that toy sales are collapsing this year because Americans are shifting their money to necessities like food and rent thanks to Joe Biden’s horrendous economy.
It also comes on the tail of an announcement by one of the nation’s biggest toy makers that it is slashing thousands of jobs because it has suffered a massive collapse in sales. The Hasbro company has announced another round of more than 1,000 layoffs, trimming another 20 percent of its workforce.
The job loss comes after its lines of woke Disney toys have found few buyers and also after the company made heavy cuts in its workforce last year.
Now we see left-wing California making toy sections even less enticing to customers — not to mention their children — even as the industry faces tough times already.
No wonder businesses and retailers are fleeing California.
