Fewer car buyers than ever want an Electric Vehicle and now that number of would-be adopters is down to a tiny five percent.
According to the latest survey, only five percent of car buyers say they are interested in buying an EV, Ars Technica reported.
The survey has a large reach and was taken of 31,00 people across 30 countries.
In the U.S., a whopping 62 percent still want a gas-powered car. And one in five say they would consider a hybrid, and another six percent said they would consider a plug-in hybrid.
Apparently, Chinese consumers are more indoctrinated and only 38 percent say they want an internal combustion engine vehicle. Meanwhile, 27 percent said they want an EV. That was the highest percentage of any nation. In Germany, only 14 percent wanted an EV, in the U.K. and Canada, it fell to 8 percent, and in Japan it was a minuscule 3 percent.
Hybrids found far, far more interest than EVs. 16 percent of Chinese people, 12 percent of Germans, 23 percent of Canadians, 24 percent of Brits, and 35 percent of Japanese buyers thought highly of this option.
EVs are universally garbage unless you only have shorts distances to drive or if you don’t drive often. But if you need towing capacity, long distances, or daily driving, EVs are useless.
They are also far more expensive for initial purpose and repairs. Also, they absolutely have no longterm or resale value. So, once you buy and EV, you will be stuck with it and will not be able to sell it off.
