Disney’s disastrous live action/animated Snow White has become one of Hollywood’s biggest money losers of all time after it made less than half its production and advertising costs.
This film had a “reported” budget of about $270 million. But that is grossly under evaluated. It really cost close to $500 million to male when you add advertising to that cost.
So, what is its bo office? Looks like it hasn’t even crossed the $200 million threshold yet. According to Forbes, it has only made $195.2 million since its March 21 release.
The magazine added that it had to make at least $427.8 million to break even.
Not even close.
Most of the time, a film can be judged on its eventual take by measuring its opening weekend. So what did Snow White do?
$43 million here at home and another $44 million overseas for a take of $87 million.
Ugh.
Of course, this film was doomed from day one. First it had a huge publicity disaster when it was reported that producers intended to have a “diverse cast” for the dwarfs — only one of whom was actually a little person. Then they denied the rumor, before admitting to it and then announcing it had to reshoot scenes when they dumped the “diverse dwarfs” idea.
Next people began to realize that the “beautiful” Snow White that they had chosen, Rachel Zegler, was somewhat plain looking compared to the “ugly queen” it had cast in the stunning and glamorous Gal Gadot. That struck many as misguided casting. Zegler is no toad, mind you, but she is most certainly not the “fairest in the land” compared to Galdot’s classic beauty.
Then came the gaping, loud, uninformed, hate-filled mouth of Zegler, the movie’s putative star.
This idiot could not stop talking.
First she dissed Disney’s original 1930s classic Snow White as stupid and misogynist, and blabbered it needed to be corrected for today’s audiences… and by that she meant corrected for the woke.
Then Zegler went around saying death to the Jews and pumped up Hamas terrorism.
No wonder the great bulk of audiences didn’t want to see this film.
So, ultimately, Snow White has become one of the biggest disasters in Hollywood history.
And Disney deserves every brick bar it gets.
