For more than two decades the Left has obscured their positions on issues of the day by employing contrived meanings for long-standing terminology. With the legacy media on their side, bolstered by academics, the entertainment industry, major book and magazine publishers, and a vast number of Leftist websites, they have enjoyed success in this venture.
Only recently, even low information voters are increasingly becoming aware of the Left’s duplicity, as one lie after another is exposed. The array of terms that the Left employees to hoodwink the unwary, however, is legion.
A Tiny Sample
Here is brief roster, of my own take, of egregious Leftist terminology examples:
Academic Freedom based on how the Left uses the term, relates to studies, research, published findings, and presentations which conform to politically-approved campus orthodoxy with no hint of challenging or upending the status quo.
Free Speech is public expression in any of a number of forms that adheres to Leftist doctrine and supports Leftist ideology as well as the Left’s politically acceptable viewpoints.
Micro-aggression is a strange concocted term favored by misguided liberal activists to earmark everyday, commonly-uttered expressions and behaviors as being offensive – even though the transgression in question is so slight as to be undetectable by the general populace.
Safe Spaces relates to an actual geographic area, often found on a college campus, where Leftist-indoctrinated students will not be exposed to alternative points of view that might challenge the political views to which they have been immersed from an early age.
Diversity is a self-serving term used to disguise discriminating and divisive Leftist bigotry and identity politics of which they themselves are guilty. And if you are not a champion of diversity, well, you must be a racist.
Cultural Appropriation depicts a cultural majority’s appreciation for and adoption of a minority culture’s creative and aesthetic designs, fashions, or products while the reverse is never deemed to represent cultural appropriation.
Homophobe is a term used to describe anyone who does not actively embrace and bolster homosexuals even if they otherwise support homosexual rights; in other words, heterosexuals who mind their own business are regarded as homophobes.
Xenophobe equates to anybody who supports the efforts of I.C.E. and effective border patrol. It also refers to anybody who believes the immigration should focus on allowing in self-sufficient, educated, responsible individuals.
Gender-affirming Care is a term used to excuse behavior by adults, most of whom by now should know better, who treat confused individuals, primarily youths, who are in turmoil, for whatever reason, about their identities.
Intersectionality is a contorted view whereby supposedly marginalized groups rank higher on a theoretical “oppression scale” while those deemed to be less-oppressed are automatically labeled as oppressors themselves. The only group regarded as not oppressed are heterosexual, white, elderly men.
Racists means white people, specifically anyone who is a member of the GOP or who voted for Donald Trump. It can also mean anyone who wins an argument or a debate with a Leftist, or who criticizes the policies, procedures, or behavior of a minority politician or minority individual.
Racist Hate Speech is any viewpoint or public expression that Leftists disdain, including phrasing such as blue lives matter or all lives matter.
Reproductive Health means abortion.
Pro-choice means pro-abortion.
Common Sense Gun Control is synonymous with the nullification of the Second Amendment in the Bill of Rights and confiscation of legal firearms.
Undocumented Workers refers to illegal aliens; those who arrived in the U.S. by breaking our nation’s law and who hold the potential to become Democrat voters.
Dreamers, as popularly employed by the Left currently relates to virtually any illegal aliens, not merely their children born here, who are likely to become Democrat voters if it can be so arranged.
Nazi equates to anyone and everyone with whom the Left finds fault.
Fascist, as currently employed by the Left, means “Republican” or “conservative.”
Hitler, of course, refers to Donald Trump.
Convicted Felon, among hundreds of thousands of convicted felons, as used by the Left refers exclusively to Donald Trump who was convinced of a non-crime, in a show trial, with a compromised judge, and a highly partisan jury, all eagerly covered by the far-Left leaning legacy media.
A Losing Battle
Fortunately the majority of Americans now see through the guise of these terms and their uses, among endless numbers of others terms. As such, the Left is beginning to lose the language war as their terminology loses the efficacy that the Left so desperately clutches.
