By Jeff Davidson,
No rational American on the Left or the Right can be anything other than disconcerted about Minnesota state Rep. Melissa Hortman and her husband being gunned down on June 13th.
Radical Anarchy On the Rise
In Boulder, one week earlier, a Palestinian sympathizer attacked elderly Jews and tried to burn them alive. He told investigators that he “wanted to kill all Zionist people” and that he had planned the assault for a year.
Two weeks earlier than that, on a Spring night, two Israeli embassy staff members, fiancées Yaron Lischinsky, 30, and Sarah Lynn Milgrim, 26, were executed as they departed from a reception for young diplomats held by the American Jewish Committee, in Washington DC.
On April 1, in New York City a self-appointed vigilante gunned down United Healthcare CEO Brian Thompson, a father of two teenage boys. Sickeningly, the assailant has been celebrated by many on the Left as some type of folk hero.
Given this backdrop and the fact that Donald Trump has survived two potential assassination attempts, our nation is treading in dangerous waters. Thus, the behavior and activities of California Senator Alejandro Padilla, himself an anchor baby, is troubling.
Lunging Toward the Lectern
It has been well documented that during a presentation by Christy Noem, the U.S. Secretary of Homeland Security, without provocation or any measure of decorum befitting a U.S. senator, Padilla disrupted the proceedings. He gave the FBI security officers in the meeting room little choice other than to forcibly lead him out of the presentation room and restrain him.
Secretary Noem reported that she had no idea who he was. Others in the room were surprised that any such outburst occurred. She was in mid-sentence when Senator Padilla chose to create havoc in a highly vocal way. The FBI reported that Padilla was not wearing a required security pin and, when he was confronted, he physically resisted FBI officers.
The news of this encounter was met with a wide variety of reactions. Those on the Right dismissed it for what it was, performance theater. Senator Padilla knew what he wanted to do and executed it to perfection. He sought to interrupt the proceedings, to make headlines, to generate striking photos for his Party, and to then claim that he was victimized.
Shocking, Simply Shocking!
On the Senate floor, at his first opportunity, on cue, Senator Cory Booker, decried the activities of the FBI security personnel. He condemned the removal and detention of Senator Padilla. Senator Adam Schiff, who never met a falsehood about the Right that he couldn’t embrace, did the same.
Others including Chuck Schumer, Gavin Newsom, and Kamala Harris followed suit. All of them condemned Republicans and everyone connected to the event.
When people like Cory Booker and company decide that they are the arbiters of truth and what represents proper behavior, you have to wonder. As always with Leftists, it’s vital to step back and gain a measure of perspective. Frankly, considering the manner in which he disrupted the proceedings, with no identification, Senator Padilla was lucky. How could security personnel know what this disrupter might be capable of?
Try Reversing the Roles
A useful exercise in such encounters is to reverse the situation. Suppose a Democrat Senator was speaking to a packed room when someone in the crowd, unidentified, spoke up loudly, in a hostile manner, while lunging forward.
What would the security personnel at such a gathering conclude? Would they wait to find out what happens next? What would Cory Booker and gang say about such a perpetrator? They would condemn the actions of the perpetrator? Unquestionably.
The underlying issue which needs to be illuminated is that Democrats have no policies, nothing in place which actually benefits the broad swath of American citizens. All they can do is attack, disrupt proceedings, make critical statements, urge resistance at orchestrated “spontaneous” gatherings, and spew their never-ending panoply of lies. As a party, Democrats have become despicable. They no longer serve any useful function.
A Theatrical Troupe
Senator Padilla has now joined Maryland Senator Chris Van Hollen, whose trip to El Salvador, with endless photos that he arranged to have with an MS-13 gang member and human trafficker, gained him his 15 minutes of Leftist fame. They are both performance artists.
I’m wondering, who among Democrat senators will step up next? It’s only a matter of time. Performance theatre is all that Democrats have left.
