The monster is back. No, I'm not talking about the monsters from the movie Poltergeist. This is more dangerous. One month after Biden said the pandemic was over, the White House declared they're extending the COVID public health emergency for another 90 days.
Appearing on "60 Minutes" on September19th, Biden declared the pandemic was over:
"The pandemic is over," he said. "We still have a problem with COVID. We're still doing a lot of work on it. But the pandemic is over. If you notice, no one's wearing masks. Everybody seems to be in pretty good shape, and so I think it's changing, and I think [the Detroit auto show resuming after three years] is a perfect example of it."
The CDC numbers reported a decline in covid cases.
Because of the new treatments for the disease, COVID is not a death sentence.
For example, two months ago, I caught what I thought was the flu. But this flu was different. I felt like I was hit by a truck, a train, and a right hook from Mike Tyson simultaneously. Four days of that lousy feeling led me to take a COVID test which was positive. So much for two shots of the COVID vaccine and two boosters. The day after the positive test, I submitted for one of the new treatments, an infusion. After two days, COVID was going away. By day three, it was almost over.
Cases, deaths, and hospitalizations are way down, and the downward trend continues. There are new treatments for the virus, and it works. So what does Biden do? He changed is mind and extended the COVID public health emergency for another 90 days.
His rationale for extending the health emergency? 2022 Midterms!
Per the Wall Street Journal
The decision means pandemic programs that have helped support hospitals and expand health coverage will remain in place. Under the designation, v have been allowed to administer Covid-19 shots. People on Medicaid aren't required to renew their eligibility. States have gotten a boost in federal Medicaid payments.
Getting rid of those benefits and increasing medical costs T\this close to the election may hurt Democrats in tight congressional and senate elections. The fact they were extended making the far left happy. The increased spending won't increase inflation until after the midterms, so that it won't anger centrist Democrats until after the election.
That's the Democratic Party way, protecting votes rather than doing the right thing for the people.
