Oops CNN lies again. They claimed President Trump wanted 10K active-duty troops in Washington DC, but the people in the meeting with the President outed their fake news.

The story began:

The White House wanted to have 10,000 active-duty troops on the streets of Washington and other cities earlier this week to quell protesters, but Secretary of Defense Mark Esper and Chairman of the Joint of Chiefs of Staff General Mark Milley pushed back at the use of any active-duty troops, according to a senior defense official.

Esper did move approximately 1,600 active-duty troops to be in the Washington, DC, region to respond if needed but the approximately 5,000 National Guard troops already there never needed assistance and the active troops began to leave Thursday night.

Wow! 10,000 active-duty troops in DC, that’s a heck of a lot of troops.  Thankfully the story was false.

Asked about the report on “Face the Nation” Sunday, Attorney General Barr disputed the characterization of the Oval Office meeting, calling it “completely false” and denying the president demanded active-duty troops in the streets immediately, rather than having them on standby. “The president never asked or suggested that we needed to deploy regular troops at that point,” he said.

Also correcting the CNN story was Alyssa Farah, Pentagon Press Secretary, and White House director of strategic communications.

This is FALSE. I was in the mtg. @realDonaldTrump very clearly directed DOD to surge the National Guard – not active duty- after nights of vandalism & arson in DC. It worked, & we’ve seen powerful, peaceful demonstrations since.

Instead of CNN Breaking News, that twitter account should be called CNN’s Broken News. After all, when it comes to reporting on President Trump and Republicans, CNN seems to make it up as they go.

Are you listening Brian Stelter? Will you be reporting this? Or did the report come from Jim Acosta, and you don’t want to correct it because it will make him cry.
