Hillary Clinton campaign manager Robby Mook was on CNN’s State of the Union on Sunday and spoke about the Clinton Foundation’s pledge to stop accepting foreign donations. During the interview, Mook repeatedly called the foundation’s decision on rejecting foreign donations if Hillary wins, “unprecedented (see video below)”

The problem with that particular talking point is that it isn’t unprecedented.

Ed Morrissey found evidence the same promise was made in 2008 when Hillary was nominated for Secretary of State and published that proof at Hot Air on Friday.

This isn’t the first time that the Clinton Foundation has made this promise. In December 2008, after Barack Obama picked Hillary Clinton as Secretary of State, foundation CEO Bruce Lindsey signed a “Memorandum of Understanding” about the operations of the foundation. Chief among them was a pledge not to seek or accept donations from foreign governments for the Clinton Global Initiative:

Their declaration in 2008 Apart for attendance fees for CGI, CGI wiII not accept contributions from foreign governments,”  sounds awfully like what they said in 2016, “Hillary Clinton’s family foundation will no longer accept foreign and corporate donations if she is elected president, and will bring an end to its annual Clinton Global Initiative meeting regardless of the outcome of the November election.”

Did the Clinton Foundation keep its promise in 2008? Of course not (Ed has all the details at Hot Air).

The lie about the Clinton Foundation promise being unprecedented is just one more example of Hillary and Bubba Clinton covering up one lie with another lie.  Not only did they make the promise eight years ago, but they broke it also, do you really believe they will keep it this time?

And what of the mainstream media? How come they don’t ask team Clinton why the 2008 promise wasn’t kept?

Watch the video below, then go to Hot Air to see the details of what they did with the promise last time, and make up your own mind (but I’m sure you will agree).
