Aretha Franklin (March 25, 1942 – August 16, 2018) passed away today. She was a woman of incomparable talent and a national treasure. Rather than talk about her talent, allow me to show it to you.
This is one of the songs she was famous for “Think” which she sang in the Blues Brothers movie when it was already a classic:
Another of her great songs “Respect:”
When she received a Kennedy Center Honor she sang another of her hits, “You Make Me Feel Like A Natural Woman”
This is her beautiful rendition of “Say a Little Prayer:”
August 16th must be designated by God as a day of death for cultural royalty. On August 16, 1948, we lost the “Sultan of Swat” Babe Ruth. On this day in 1977, we lost the “King of Rock and Roll,” Elvis Presley. And today the Queen Of Soul, Aretha Franklin.
The world lost a great talent today, Please join me in saying a little prayer for Aretha Franklin.
May the Creator of the Universe protect her soul, may her memory always be for a blessing, may God comfort her bereaved family and friends and may she forever rest in peace.
