It is a fact that new technology replaces the old and, all too often, takes millions of jobs with it. And with Artificial Intelligence systems evolving and becoming more useful, it is a lock that many jobs will be lost as the business world begins switching over to this tech.
AI, of course, will affect the world in a lot of ways that we cannot foresee, granted. But it seems likely that these five careers will become a dead end for we lowly humans.
1. Paralegal and Legal Research Assistants: Machines Master Legal Analysis
AI won’t totally eliminate these workers any time real soon. After all, there needs to be a human available to double check the work. But AI can do legal research and document analysis much, much faster than people. AI can also perform complicated legal analysis for compliance purposes. But even as there will still be a need for some humans in this field, the largest number will become unnecessary very quickly — and in fact, many have already lost their jobs in this field.
2. Data Entry and Administrative Clerks
This one probably seems obvious. Simple data entry by human hands is quickly becoming unnecessary. AI is being used to process invoice, monitor inventory, manage scheduling, compile databases, and handle tasks of this nature. And they can do so 24/7 without the “workday” time limit humans have.
3. Basic Accounting and Bookkeeping Roles
As with data entry, the boring work of bookkeeping is also being handed over to AI programs. This tech has fewer errors, faster turnaround, and cheaper operation costs.
4. Retail and Customer Service Representatives
Chatbots have pretty much taken over the online customer service industry already. But it might be a welcome change for many who were sick of trying to understand the broken English of call centers in foreign lands.
5. Basic Software Development and Coding Jobs
A few years ago, the political world erupted when Joe Biden laughed at people in the coal industry losing their jobs, and he callously told them to “learn to code.” Well, the joke is on him because even those who did learn to code are being replaced by AI.
It will take many years to finally see these jobs fully taken over by AI, of course. But if you are a young person looking to start a work career, you should probably avoid these fields.
