Another batch of emails have been hacked, this time they were the email files of former Secretary of State Colin Powell. The major revelation is that Powell is not happy about Hillary Clinton, her email scandal, or the way she overcharges for speeches.
The Powell email story (broken by the site, The Intercept) also uncovers that Powell warned team Clinton three times not to use him as an excuse for her email scandal, Ms. Clinton really can’t stand President Obama, and Powell believes that everything she touches “Hillary screws up with her hubris.” Powell’s emails also reveal he is not pleased with Republican Donald Trump, feeling that the birther nonsense he promoted is racist (It is nonsense but not racist). Not surprisingly, while the bulk emails released for this story involve Hillary Clinton, liberal sites led with Powell’s criticism of Trump.
At the end of August, Mr. Powell wrote:
“Sad thing HRC could have killed this two years ago by merely telling everyone honestly what she had done and not tie me to it.”
As the saying goes, ain’t that the truth!
“I told her staff three times not to try that gambit. I had to throw a mini tantrum at a Hampton’s party to get their attention.’
Just the week before he wrote that particular email, we covered that “mini tantrum” Powell wrote about. According to Powell, he had tried to settle the matter by meeting with Clinton aide Cheryl Mills in August.
Democratic Mega-donor Jeffry Leeds (and Powell business partner) wrote Powell in March when Hillary was battling Bernie Sanders and explained that Ms. Clinton’s hates Obama:
I think Hillary can’t believe she might not make it, t’s the one prize she wants. She has everything else. And she HATES that the President (“that man,” as the Clintons call him) kicked her ass in 2008. She can’t believe it or accept it.”
In an August email to Leeds, the former Secretary of State complained about the effect of Hillary Clinton’s scandal for future state dept. leaders and how they Clinton’s overcharging for speeches hurt his income:
“They are going to dick up the legitimate and necessary use of emails with friggin record rules. I saw email more like a telephone than a cable machine, As long as the stuff is unclassified. I had a secure State.gov machine. Everything HRC touches she kind of screws up with hubris.
(…)I told you about the gig I lost at a University because she so overcharged them they came under heat and couldn’t any fees for awhile. I should send her a bill.”
Not surprisingly even though very little of the released email content spoke about Trump, liberal websites such as CNN, NBC, and Buzzfeed concentrated on Powell’s criticism of Trump.
For example:
In an Aug. 21 email from Powell to Miller, he blasted Trump for embarking on a “racist” movement that believes President Obama was not born in the US.
“Yup, the whole birther movement was racist,” Powell wrote. “That’s what the 99% believe. When Trump couldn’t keep that up he said he also wanted to see if the certificate noted that he was a Muslim.”
Powell told BuzzFeed News, “I have no further comment. I’m not denying it.”
“As I have said before, ‘What if he was?’ Muslims are born as Americans everyday,” Powell wrote to his former aide.
Last month a spokesperson for Powell released a statement about his use of emails. Per the statement Powell spoke to Clinton about describing his use of his personal AOL account for “unclassified messages and how it vastly improved communications within the State Department. At the time there was no equivalent system within the Department. Adding that, “He used a secure State computer on his desk to manage classified information.”
In the end Powell felt the same way about the email scandal as most Americans, “Dumb. She should have done a ‘Full Monty’ at the beginning.”
That’s the way of the Clintons, they still haven’t learned it’s not the scandal…it’s the cover up.
