Now I am not saying any of this happened because Alan Grayson is one of the slimiest people in congress. Nor am I implying that it happened because Grayson’s campaign manager, Suzannah Randolph, is a former ACORN lobbyist and political director, in fact the campaign denies that it had anything to do with them, but today there were two dirty tricks revealed to be happening in Florida’s 8th Congressional District, along with being sleazy both incidents were illegal.
A mysterious and illegal mailer has hit voters’ mailboxes in the 8th congressional district. The mailer carries no return address and no disclaimer to identify who paid for it (which is illegal under election law). The mysterious mailer was sent to the district’s GOP and independent voters and criticizes Grayson’s opponent Dan Webester for voting for a $546 million “unfunded mandate,” a reference to the Legislature’s approval of a 2007 plan that forced local school districts to raise property taxes and increasing education spending while Webster was state senate majority leader. The mailer also promotes fake Tea Party candidate Peg Dunmire:
“Peg Dunmire doesn’t support legislation that requires higher taxes and increased levels of government spending. She supports all efforts to reduce government debt.”
There have been reports than Dummire’s campaign is being financed by Grayson in order to cannibalize Webster’s conservative votes:

U.S. Rep. Alan Grayson’s campaign has paid nearly $20,000 to a corporation created by a Florida Tea Party candidate, with help from that party’s top consultant, lending support to Republicans’ claims that Grayson is funneling some of his $30-plus million fortune toward a party that is running a candidate against him in the general election.
Both the Grayson and Dunmire campaigns deny any involvement with the mailing. The mail service that handled the ad would not identify the sender:
“They’re not allowing me to tell,” said Ken Lombardi of Action Mail Services in Orlando. “I was told not to disclose where it came from.”
Failing to include a disclaimer identifying who paid for the mailer is a first-degree misdemeanor, punishable by up to a year in prison or a $1,000 fine.
If Grayson’s campaign denies any involvement with the mailer you have to believe them, after all Alan Grayson is an honorable man and his campaign manager denies that ACORN had anything to do with the voter fraud that occurred in its name when she was its political director.
In another story, Orlando Police Officers caught a man tearing up campaign signs in an Orlando neighborhood early Friday morning. Douglas James Coleman, 26, was seen tearing up signs for Daniel Webster in the area of Ferncreek and Robinson Street around 1:30 a.m. Friday morning. Webster is the Republican candidate for the US Congress and is running against Democrat incumbent Alan Grayson. James was arrested and charged with criminal mischief. He was booked into the Orange County jail on $250 bond.
I am absolutely sure that the Grayson campaign had nothing to do with the criminal mischief.
Records show Coleman was a paid canvasser for the Florida Democratic Party in 2008, earning $640. There’s no indication he’s worked for the party this election cycle, however. A spokesman for Webster’s opponent, Democrat U.S. Rep. Alan Grayson, said there’s no record Coleman has ever worked or volunteered for Grayson.
Two weeks ago, a volunteer for the Grayson campaign in Marion County filed a police report about repeated vandalism of the Democrat’s signs.
“We’ve had 600 signs in Marion County defaced, torn down or destroyed,” Grayson campaign spokesman Todd Jurkowski said. “It’s happening to both sides.”
Graham told police Webster signs have been destroyed over a course of two weeks, causing about $1,000 of damage. All of the signs appeared to be sliced with a sharp object like a knife or box cutter [Gee that’s what Coleman used]
While both of these crimes may have been done to help the Grayson campaign, I would bet up to twenty-five cents that Grayson’s campaign had nothing to do with it, after all Alan Grayson is an honorable man…isn’t he?
