According to the report:
In a sharply worded statement today, the Conservative movement’s Rabbinical Assembly “condemned” Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu for making divisive comments Tuesday when he urged Israelis in a video message to get out and vote because “Arab voters are going en masse to the polls” and thus threatening the country’s “rightwing government.”
“This statement, which indefensibly singled out the Arab citizens of Israel, is unacceptable and undermines the principles upon which the State of Israel was founded,” wrote Rabbi William Gershon and Rabbi Julie Schonfeld, the organization’s president and executive vice president, respectively.
There are two problems with the Rabbis criticism, If you examine their claim of they think he said, “Arab voters are going en masse to the polls” and thus threatening the country’s “rightwing government.” while that is accurate, the left out what else he said. Netanyahu didn’t say stop them from voting he said so my supporters better come out and vote. But that still is only part of what Bibi said soon after the video was posted, Netanyahu clarified that “what’s wrong is not that Arab
citizens are voting, but that massive funds from abroad from left-wing
NGOs and foreign governments are bringing them en masse to the polls in
an organized way, thus twisting the true will of all Israeli citizens
who are voting, for the good of the Left.”
Bibi was looking for help in combating the foreign funds being used to unseat him. Did the Rabbinical Assembly write anything to protest the Obama administration funding and staffing with their campaign the V-15 group whose advertising was basically “vote for anybody but Bibi?” Did they say anything about the months of anti-Israel leaks from the White House?
Of course not! You see the Rabbinical Assembly as well as the United Synagogue which runs the conservative movement doesn’t like Bibi. Why? Because most progressives don’t like Bibi especially President Obama. So like the mainstream media, these supposed holy men twist the words of the Israeli Prime Minister because instead of practicing and teaching faith they bow to the progressive golden calf, and worship their Democratic hero.
Shame on Rabbi Gershon, Shame on Rabbi Schonfeld! It’s time for a little remedial education about Loshen Hora. At the very least its time for them to put Jewish teaching in front of their progressive politics. If they can’t– perhaps they should resign.
UPDATE Rabbi Schonfeld told Ha’aretz she didn’t read the full Netanyahu statement, proving the Rabbinical Assembly was just doing a hit job:
Schonfeld said she had not yet seen Netanyahu’s full text, but that the fact Netanyahu felt the need to clarify underscores the seriousness of the issue.
