The Progressives are going crazy with joy….”you see” they are saying…here is a bi-partisan group of four former National Security Advisers (NSAs) praising Chuck Hagel. These four have the same derision for Israel and Jews as Hagel,
two have made anti-Semitic statements in public forums and one is largely
responsible for the creation of the Taliban…and the progressives use
them to make a case for Hagel?
Regarding the Dec. 21 front-page article “Vietnam scars still show in Hagel’s policies”:
He is a rare example of a public servant willing to rise above partisan politics to advance the interests of the United States and its friends and allies. Moreover, it is damaging to the quality of our civic discourse for prospective Cabinet nominees to be subjected to such vicious attacks on their character before an official nomination.
This type of behavior will only discourage future prospective nominees from public service when our country badly needs quality leadership in government.
James L. Jones, Brent Scowcroft, Zbigniew Brzezinski and Frank Carlucci
Lets Start with James Jones. In April of 2010 National Security Adviser Jones began as speech at a foreign policy think tank with a Jewish Joke (the story was first reported here on the Lid).
Earlier this week we may have gotten some insight into why Jones is not a fan of the Jewish Homeland. He was giving the key note speech at a Washington Institute For Near East Policy and started it out with a “Joke” that borders on anti-Semitic, teaching the crowd that Jews are just greedy merchants in the same vein as Shakespeare’s Shylock:
I’d like to begin with a story that I think is true, a Taliban militant gets lost and is wandering around the desert looking for water. He finally arrives at a store run by a Jew and asks for water. The Jewish vendor tells him he doesn’t have any water but can gladly sell him a tie. The Taliban, the jokes goes on, begins to curse and yell at the Jewish storeowner. The Jew, unmoved, offers the rude militant an idea: Beyond the hill, there is a restaurant; they can sell you water. The Taliban keeps cursing and finally leaves toward the hill. An hour later he’s back at the tie store. He walks in and tells the merchant: “Your brother tells me I need a tie to get into the restaurant.”
As National Security Adviser, Hagel emerged as one of the more extreme advocates of what might
be called the Obama ideology in the foreign policy sector. On the Middle
East, Jones was said to be the main supporter for the idea of trying
to impose some U.S. devised solution on Israel and the Palestinians.
Also in April 2010 a NY Times Article Reported
…about a meeting
chaired by National Security Advisor James Jones, known for being
hostile to Israel, and including former national security advisors,
Zbigniew Brzezinski, Brent Scowcroft—also known for being
anti-Israel—and Samuel Berger. All three (it should be mentioned that
none of this trio covered himself with glory when in office and are not
exactly foreign policy geniuses) reportedly favor the idea. Former
national security advisor Colin Powell disagreed, but he’s a Republican
(though a pro-Obama one) and probably less influential. Oh, and
President Obama dropped in to hear the discussion
Brent Scowcroft was George HW Bush’s National Security Adviser. HW Bush’s administration rivaled that of Jimmy Carter and Barack Obama as the most anti-Israel in history. That was the administration where Secretary of State James Baker once said, “Fu*k The Jews they won’t vote for us anyway.” Right after the 2008 election we learned that
Barack Obama has been receiving advice from Brent Scowcroft. Scowcroft is a former National Security Adviser who has a long history of coolness towards Israel. This past week he joined forces with another former national security adviser, Zbigniew Brzezinski, who shares his views towards Israel to write an op-ed for the Washington Post, “Middle East Priorities” for January 21. The column advised Obama to make the Middle East peace process a priority, blamed our problems in the region on the conflict between Israel and the Palestinians (implicitly blaming our support for Israel), and laid down the parameters that should guide the administration its conflict with the Palestinians and the Israelis.
Scowcroft’s positions had nothing to do with the fact that Brent made some money from the Arab States:
the Scowcroft Group. is a Washington, D.C. international business advisory firm with extensive interests in the Middle East. Will Scowcroft peddle his influence in an Obama Administration to further his financial interests in the region? He seems to believe that his op-eds can be used as sales tools, since he posts them on the firm’s website: (for example, Getting The Middle East Back on Our Side wherein he writes glowingly of the Iraq Study Group final report — one that seemed to be biased against Israel and which was drafted under the aegis of Scowcroft’s long-time ally, former Secretary of State James Baker). Scowcroft advocates increased engagement with Iran. American businesses have been constrained in doing business with Iran. Will Scowcroft and his acolytes promote ties with Iran to garner lucrative business relationships?
Zbigniew Brzezinski was in Jimmy Carter’s administration as National Security Adviser where he was instrumental in creating the Taliban. Brzezinski is another sometimes Obama adviser who crosses the line from being anti-Israel into Antisemitism.
In January 2012 Brzezinski told Salon
Brzezinski has both praise and criticism for
the president: “He was an improvement by a very large score over his
predecessor, but he could have been better.” He thinks the Obama
administration “should have stuck to its guns in promoting a fair
settlement” in the Middle East. A longtime foe of Israel’s partisans in
the United States, he says the Obama team “fumbled by getting
outmaneuvered by the Israelis.” Then he gets blunter: “Domestic
politics interceded: The Israelis have a lot of influence with Congress, and in some cases they are able to buy influence.”
That was just Zbigniew Brzezinski’s way of saying “Those rich Jews are controlling Congress. Zbigniew also doesn’t believe Israel has the right to defend herself…He criticized Israel attacks on Hamas as being unwarranted because the
Kassams the terrorists were launching were simply an nuisance. He
suggested to President Bush to blow Israeli airplanes out of the sky if they dare to launch an attack on the Iranian nukes.
Frank Carlucci is the moderate of the group. Two years ago, in January 2011 Frank Carlucci was one of the signers of a letter to President Obama urging him to “Stop defending Israel using UN-veto” which cleared the Palestinians of any misdeeds and urged pressure on Israel only. Of course this was done to protect President Obama, who’s anti-Israel polices needed defense. Even fake conservative David Frum thought the letter was inappropriate.
Carlucci is a big supporter of Chas Freeman, who is not only anti-Israel, believes the Muslims discovered America and the Chinese were too easy on the Tiananmen Square protesters.
Freeman is one of our country’s best practitioners of diplomacy, an art
he argues we have neglected in favor of military options. With unclear
goals, the later has cost us good will and prestige around the world;
friends have been turned in to enemies. Some will find Freeman’s
indictment of our drift from our values too sweeping; all will find
Freeman’s book thought provoking and well articulated. He has given us a
wake up call. Let’s hope we hear it.
Four anti-Israel NSAs, two anti-Semites and the guy who created the Taliban…four guys with those credentials. And the progressives march out this anti-Jew Crew to defend Hagel….somehow I am not surprised.
