Politics can be a fun sport, especially when an arrogant progressive gets caught in their own web.

Former Speaker of the House, Nancy Pelosi who, according to her latest financial disclosure has a net worth of just short of $200 million dollars, has been beating up on Mitt Romney for not releasing his tax returns.

As recently as yesterday she told Politico:

“I think it’s very interesting that [Romney’s] vice presidential
candidate will have to show tax reforms to him – returns to him, that
any member – person that he would nominate to be a Cabinet officer would
have to show tax return to the United States Senate”

But that was yesterday! Today the former speaker was asked a horrible question. Well it was horrible for someone like her who happens to be one of the richest people in the country. “Leader Pelosi, are you going to release YOUR tax return?”

Facing questions about why she and other top Congressional officials won’t release their tax returns, House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) downplayed her previous demands for presumptive GOP presidential nominee Mitt Romney to release his, calling the issue a distraction.

As recently as Wednesday, Pelosi had strongly urged Romney to provide further disclosure of his tax returns. But today, while maintaining Romney should release more documents because of “custom” and “tradition,” Pelosi said the issue was trivial compared with economic issues.

We should be talking about middle-income tax cuts,” Pelosi said after answering two questions about the issue…

…The Minority Leader faced questions about the issue after a McClatchy News report showed only 17 of 535 Members released their tax returns when asked.

Realizing that she cut the legs out of an important progressive anti-Romney argument, Pelosi clarified her remarks. The Democratic Party’s ranking hypocrite in the house, told reporters today

“When I run for president of the United States, you can hold me to that standard,” Pelosi told reporters in the Capitol.

“The disclosure that we have is full and complete,” she added, noting that she’s met all of the financial disclosure obligations required of Congress.

Run for President? Thank God that will never happen–right?

Oh, and in case you are wondering about Romney not releasing his 2011 tax returns yet, I am no where near wealthy but the last time I filed my tax return before midnight on October 15 (the last day for extensions) was 1985.
