Last night I received this press release from the Union of Orthodox Jewish Congregations of America, the organization of Orthodox Synagogues in America. Celebrating the fact that one of their own, Jack Lew was named President Obama’s Chief of Staff.
ORTHODOX UNION WISHES “MAZAL TOV” TO
NEW WHITE HOUSE CHIEF OF STAFF JACK LEW
Mr. Lew is the first individual affiliated with the Orthodox Jewish community to hold this position of great responsibility. Mr. Lew has been affiliated and active with two OU member congregations over the past decade – Congregation Beth Shalom in Potomac, Maryland and the Hebrew Institute of Riverdale in Bronx, New York.
OU Managing Director Rabbi Steven Burg and Executive Director for Public Policy Nathan Diamentissued the following statement: “We commend President Obama for appointing Mr. Jack Lew as White House Chief of Staff. Our community takes great pride in the appointment of the first member of our community to this position of great responsibility. We wish Mr. Lew a hearty ‘Mazal Tov’ on his historic appointment and best wishes in his new role in serving the president and people of the United States.”
The question is Why are they Celebrating? Forgetting for a moment that Lew himself is a progressive who will joyously push for Barack Obama’s most aggressive government takeovers of our freedom, one would expect that. But why would the OU brag about the fact that one of their own moved into a senior position in the most anti-Israel administration in history? Maybe the headline should be, Orthodox Jew to Help Obama Screw the Jewish State!
If they can brag about Jack Lew, why didn’t they send out a press release last month celebrating the horrible case of 85 Orthodox Jews molesting children. Let’s face it, as a result of Obama’s policies and those horrible child molesters, too many Jewish children were/or will be harmed.
Orthodox All Jews should be embarrassed that one of their own went to the White House to help Obama implement his policies, including his disastrous middle east agenda. And maybe I am a political cynic, but the appointment of an Orthodox Jew as Chief of Staff just 10 months before an election where Obama is having problems with the Jewish vote is…well let’s just say is not a coincidence.
