ITS NOW OFFICIAL. Senator Obama has not only surpassed Senator Clinton on Delegates but he has also passed her on positions regarding the Iraq War.

I don’t see how our presence there can be helpful,’ Obama said. Even if a new government is formed, Obama said, by the end of the year ‘our job as the police and army of Iraq should be complete. We will have done our task and we should start phasing down our troops.’” [Chicago Tribune, 4/13/06]

“We can send 15,000 more troops, 20,000 more troops, 30,000 more troops: I don’t know any expert on the region or any military officer that I’ve spoken to privately that believes that that is going to make a substantial difference on the situation on the ground.”January 14, 2007 (see video above)

“The stated purpose of the surge was to enable Iraq’s political leaders to reconcile. They have not done so. . . . Our troops fight and die in the 120 degree heat to give Iraq’s leaders space to agree, but they are not filling it. . . . The bar for success is so low that it is almost buried in the sand.” “There is no military solution in Iraq. The best way to protect our security and to pressure Iraq’s leaders to resolve their civil war is to begin immediately to remove our combat troops. Not in six months or one year – now.”Obama Campaign brochure September 2007

In an interview with BBC’s HARDtalk on March 6, 2008, Obama foreign policy adviser Samantha Power stated that Obama’s pledge to “have all [US] combat brigades out of Iraq within 16 months

Today during a telephone conversation with Iraqi Foreign Minister Hoshiyar Zebari he said:

“I emphasized to him how encouraged I was by the reductions in violence in Iraq but also insisted that it is important for us to begin the process of withdrawing U.S. troops, making it clear that we have no interest in permanent bases in Iraq”
“we continue with the progress that’s been made in Iraq, that we won’t act precipitously.”

OK So here is Obama’s Iraq Policy, the surge will never work militarily, OH WAIT its working militarily, the surge will never work because the political factions will never get together, OH WAIT they are getting together, the surge is working so lets get the hell out while we continue with the progress. Am I missing something here? Or is this guy changing his positions with every change in the season?
