A new report shows that Barack Obama gave protected Deferred Action for Childhood (DACA) status to thousands of illegal aliens with dangerous criminal histories putting Americans in danger.
One of the many misleading Obama facts liberals like to tell is that his administration concentrated on deporting Illegal Aliens who were criminals. According to the Department of Homeland Security’s 2016 annual report on ICE enforcement statistics, the administration did focus on criminals. Nearly all 98 percent of the aliens removed from the interior of the country in 2016 were convicted criminals The report even emphasizes that the percentage of who are criminals has been increasing, but the report never mentioned that the actual number of criminals removed has been declining.
In 2016, ICE removed 60,318 criminal aliens from the interior. This is a decline of 4 percent from 2015 and a decline of 60 percent from the peak in interior criminal alien removals in 2010.
Now thanks to a new report by Hans von Spakovsky and Christopher Baldacci published by the Daily Signal we learn that of another exception, DACA recipients. “The left consistently characterizes all DACA recipients as though they were innocent, law-abiding Phi Beta Kappa college graduates,” the pair write before saying that this is but one of the many myths the left uses to characterize Obama’s DACA program.
“When President Donald Trump last tried to rescind DACA, a program that Obama implemented without legal authority or the approval of Congress, liberals decried the move as an attack on peace-loving immigrants. However, new research challenges that simplistic narrative,” they write.
The pair then reported on a recent study by the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services to find out just who was applying for Obama’s free ride for illegals program.
Shockingly, the study found that eight percent of those who applied had severe criminal histories of, among other things, rape, theft, drunk driving, and even murder, yet the Obama administration approved them all anyway.
The facts that have come to light are disturbing, indeed:
For those who think that, during the Obama administration, the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services was actually checking the backgrounds of all DACA applicants, nothing could be further from the truth. It implemented a “lean and light” system in which only a few randomly selected DACA applications were ever actually investigated, and only rarely was any of the information on the applications themselves even verified.
This new data from the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services contradict claims that DACA has not been a shield for criminal aliens. Director L. Francis Cissna lamented: “The truth is that we let those with criminal arrests for sexually assaulting a minor, kidnapping, human trafficking, child pornography, and even murder be provided protection from removal.”
Not only were some of the DACA beneficiaries—the so-called “Dreamers”—criminals before they received deferred action, but a number of them committed crimes after they were given a free pass. Of the group of DACA beneficiaries with prior arrests, 13 percent of them—nearly 8,000 aliens—were arrested for another crime after they were in the United States.
The Center for Immigration Studies reported that, as of January, more than 2,000 individuals had their protection under DACA revoked for criminal or gang activity, including with MS-13, considered by many to be the most dangerous and brutal criminal gang in the country. Yet only 30 percent were actually deported or put in custody as a result.
The report also found that DACA recipients were responsible for over 8,000 crimes across the USA before and after they were admitted to Obama’s program. Many of these crimes would never have happened if these people were deported as they should have been.
This means that Obama is responsible for literally victimizing thousands of U.S. citizens by allowing dangerous criminals to stay in the U.S. under the color of law!
EVERY American should be infuriated by all this! It should also help us all understand just why Trump wanted to end Obama’s giveaways to illegals.
“Congress, not the president, has the final word on this issue. And the No. 1 concern of Congress should be ensuring the safety of the American people,” von Spakovsky and Baldacci say in conclusion. It is a call to action, and yes, Congress should act to end DACA instead of sitting back and letting left-wing, unelected federal judges legislating from the bench.
