New York City officials apparently have more important things to worry about than the rising crime rate perpetrated by illegals all across the city. They have criminal pizza restaurants to go after, you see.
The city that is drowning in lost jobs, falling revenue, rising taxes, and a flood of illegals leeching off the system is more worried about these evil pizzerias ruining the city’s “air quality,” than in all those other prosaic worries.
So, the city leaders, in all their wisdom, passed a new rule that will cost these evil businesses more than $20,000 to add emissions equipment to their ovens to stop all these evil, evil emissions and cut them by 75 percent.
That’s right, New York officials have their priorities straight, don’t they?
As the New York Post reported:
Under the mandate, restaurants with coal-and-wood-fired ovens must hire an engineer or architect to assess the feasibility of installing emission controls devices to achieve a 75% reduction in particulate emissions.
If this report concludes that a reduction of 75% or more cannot be achieved, or that no emissions controls can be installed, it must identify any emission controls that could provide a reduction of at least 25% or an explanation for why no emission controls can be installed.
The city already lost dozens of restaurants thanks to the wide-ranging COVID shutdowns they perpetrated on the city. And now they want to destroy even more restaurants with foolish green policies.
As Eater New York reported in 2020, COVID destroyed dozens of Big Apple restaurants.
This is liberalism, folks.
Ignore actual crime. Attack good, working citizens.
