The Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) banned class president Megha Vemuri from its 2025 graduation ceremonies after she was heard expressing support for Palestinian terrorists.
Vemuri, who was born in Georgia to a pair of migrants from India, was supposed to serve as the marshal of this year’s graduation ceremony on May 29, but now that has been cancelled. In addition, she and her family won’t even be allowed to attend the ceremony, the Boston Globe reported.
“You deliberately and repeatedly misled Commencement organizers,” MIT chancellor Melissa Nobles wrote in an email to Vemuri. “While we acknowledge your right to free expression, your decision to lead a protest from the stage, disrupting an important institute ceremony, was a violation of MIT’s time, place and manner rules for campus expression.”
The school was incensed that Vemuri had used her time on stage on Thursday to attack Israel and come to the aide of Hamas terrorists.
At one point in her comments that veered from the text she told the school she intended to give, the loudmouthed child said that she and her fellow grads would carry “the stamp of the MIT name, the same name that is directly complicit in the ongoing genocide of the Palestinian people, so we carry with us the obligation to do everything we can to stop it.”
University president Sally Kornbluth followed Vemuri’s outrageous support of Hamas murders by reminding students that they were gathered to celebrate graduates, not to devolve into a political rally.
MIT should have revoked her diploma as well. But barring her from the Friday’s final ceremony was at least something.
