Last Week Alan Dershowitz, the famous Harvard Legal Professor was a bit unfair to former President Jimmy Carter when he wrote about the peanut presidents new book which calls Israel an aparthied state. Its not that what Dershowitz said was wrong or untrue, he made some excellent and truthful points about Carter’s book citing his lies and ommisions. It is Mr. Dershowitz’s conclusion where he misses the point.
Palestine: Peace Not Apartheid is so biased that it raises the question of what would motivate a decent man like Jimmy Carter to write such an indecent book. His authorship of this ahistorical, one-sided brief against Israel forever disqualifies him from playing any positive role in fairly resolving the conflict between Israel and the Palestinians. That is a tragedy because the Carter Center, which has done much good in the world, could have been a force for peace if Jimmy Carter were as generous in spirit to the Israelis as he is to the Palestinians.
Come on Mr Dershowitz isn’t it obvious? If Carter is such a decent man as you say, then this book proves that he must be suffering from some sort of dementia. For many people the onset of dementia brings a personality change. Look at the facts, beyond the errors that you have mentioned, Carter has basically been called a liar by an historian who worked with him on the book, and has also been accused of plagiarism. This is not the work of a sane man. How could you criticize a sick person like that.
Former US President Jimmy Carter says some Israeli restrictions imposed on Palestinians in the West Bank are worse than apartheid-era South Africa. In an interview broadcast on Israel Radio, Mr Carter focused on roads built exclusively for Jewish settlements. In South Africa, blacks were not prevented from “using or even crossing” roads, as in the West Bank, he said.
You see! His memory is shot. Poor Jimmy doesn’t even remember the reason that the roads were blocked, that Palestinians were coming from the west bank to blow up women and children.
“Israel does occupy this territory deep within the West Bank, and connects 200-or-so settlements… with a road, and then prohibits the Palestinians from using that road, or in many cases even crossing the road.
This is an embarrassment! How does his wife let him go out in public with his diminished mental capacity.
“This perpetrates even worse instances of apartness, or apartheid, than we witnessed even in South Africa,” Mr Carter said.
He added that the book was intended to stimulate debate in the US – Israel’s closest political ally – where he said Israeli policies are seldom questioned.
OH MY G-D this decent man is even brining up the “Jewish Lobby” libel. Mr Dershowitz, Jimmy Carter, this decent man as you described him, is ill. He is presenting lies as truths, stealing other people’s work and presenting it as his own, showing incredible hatred of Israel and the Jewish people. There is only one explanation for such a behavior change, dementia. That is unless he was never decent in the first place.
