At first glance, it seemed like a conspiracy theory planted by a crazy guy wearing a tin foil hat. After checking sources, it is genuine and scary — the FBI has discovered a homegrown, Islamist terror compound just outside the small Alabama town of Tuskegee. The Alabama site is connected to the one in New Mexico discovered last year.

Per Sinclair Broadcast Group, “This plot of land in Macon County, Alabama is described in an FBI search warrant as a “makeshift military-style obstacle course” belonging to a small group of terrorists led by Siraj Wahhaj who owned the property up a long dirt road but just a few miles from downtown Tuskegee.”

The facility can be missed because it looks like an abandoned dump site, sadly it’s more than that.

‘Makeshift Military-Style” Obstacle Course’ at Alabama Terrorist Training Camp

Making the training camp story more frightening is its connection to the training camp discovered New Mexico last year. At the New Mexico location, Siraj Wahhaj was accused of training kids to commit school shootings. The body of Wahhaj’s 3-year-old son was also found at the New Mexico site.  Back in March, the Associated Press reported that Wahhaj and four other adults living at the New Mexico compound were indicted by a federal grand jury on charges of “providing material support to terrorists, conspiracy to murder an officer or employee of the United States, kidnapping, possessing a firearm while unlawfully in the United States, and other charges,” For now Siraj Wahhaj is in jail awaiting trial.

The local NBC affiliate reports the Alabama facility was similar to the one in New Mexico:

Line by line we went through the federal search warrant here in Alabama and found the items discovered on the Macon County property mirrored those recovered in New Mexico. There was a pile of wood pallets and a structure made from the wood pallets and plastic sheeting. On the side of that structure, there were dozens of blue buckets. From the air, using our drone, you see more clearly what the FBI described in its search warrant as a “military-style obstacle course.” We also found tires, trash, children’s toys, and respirators. The FBI believes the group spent at least several weeks here.

Terrorism it seems is a Wahhaj family business.

Siraj Wahhaj’s father is a Brooklyn-based Imam, who leads a well-known mosque in New York. He says he was stunned by his son’s actions and tipped off law enforcement about the conditions at the New Mexico compound last year.

(…)”To me there is something obviously happening, some mental disorder to me this doesn’t seem like them,” said the elder Siraj Wahhaj.

According to federal prosecutors, the prominent Muslim cleric was an unindicted co-conspirator in the 1993 World Trade Center bombing and served as a character witness in the trial of man convicted of plotting the attack: Sheik Omar Abdel Rahman. Federal prosecutors say Wahhaj’s name was included in a list of names of people who could possibly come up in the evidence. Wahhaj was never prosecuted.

If anything calls Americans to double down on “if you see something say something” it is this case. Especially when wondering if Siraj Wahhaj own land in any other states? Or about his dad who was supposedly involved in the first WTC bombing, was he involved?
