As Los Angeles devolves into violent chaos led by the anti-ICE activists that have flooded the streets to fight against immigration enforcement, it is being discovered that tax dollars are funding the groups organizing these riots.
One of the groups behind the riots is a non-profit called Coalition for Humane Immigrant Rights (CHIRLA), an LA-based group that advocates for illegal aliens. This group has long been an avowed enemy of Immigration and Customs Enforcement and in 2018 led a campaign to abolish ICE.
As rioters coursed through downtown L.A. this weekend, CHIRLA Executive Director Angelica Salas held a press conference celebrating the work of the Los Angeles Rapid Response Network’s hotline for helping alert left-wing, open-border activists to where ICE actions were taking place across the L.A. area.

As it happens the non-profit CHIRLA has been the happy recipient of millions in tax dollars. According to the group’s financial filings, it has received a whopping $34 million in revenue from the government, most from California tax payers, but also some federal dollars, according to cicil liberties attorney Laura Powell.
Over the last two years, the group has been handed almost $50 million in tax dollars.
I forgot to share this document, which shows the list of government agencies that funded CHIRLA. It relates to the funding year ending June 2023, though the filing date is 2024. pic.twitter.com/zGhvKXadZJ

fortunately, it appears the the federal government caught on to the fact that CHIRLA uses its taxpayer-supplied funding to work against federal immigration laws and on May 29 froze a further $100,000 from going into their coffers. The freeze caused the left-wing group to file a lawsuit against the government.
Still, CHIRLA would practically not exist if we were not handing them tens of millions in tax dollars. According to popular X account DataRepublican, CHIRLA gets 75 percent of its 45 million budget in government grants and other government handouts.
🚨🔥 WHO'S BEHIND THE ANTI-ICE RIOTS IN LOS ANGELES? 🔥🚨
Hundreds took to the streets this weekend: blocking roads, attacking federal officers, even burning flags. But this wasn't "spontaneous outrage."
This was organized. Funded. Coordinated.

The group’s government funding saw a huge jump between 2022 and 2023, as well, going from $12 million to an incredible $34 million year-over-year. About $450,000 of that was federal funding. The rest all came from the State of California.
Another top organizer of the riots in L.A. is the government employee union, Service Employees International Union (SEIU).
DataRepublican went on to note that the group that paid for the pre-printed protest signs is a literal socialist organization, calling itself the Party for Socialism and Liberation. This group seems to be funded by billionaire socialist and Chinese propagandist Neville Singham, though the group’s financials are not trackable since they are entirely private.
The left-wing Million Voters Project California is also involved.
