Despite Left-Wing Claims, Mexican Drug Cartels are NOT Buying American Guns

Democrats always make the claim that Mexican cartel criminals get their arms from the U.S. and then use that claim to push for gun control here. But a recent look at the sort of guns cartel members favor shows most are not coming from U.S. suppliers.

A review of cartel favorites published by Bearing Arms notes that the cartel members love fully automatic firearms. But points out that such arms are not sold in the U.S., so clearly those arms are not being puchased in the U.S.A. for use by Mexican gangbangers.

The article mentions arms including the M134 Minigun, the M24 Squad Automatic Weapon, and the full auto AK47. These are not coming from U.S. sources. Not to mention the cartels' recent favor of the M72 LAW rocket launcher that has shown up in cartel hands.

The article notes that "we now know what the cartels really want, and guess what? Most of it isn't even available to you and me."

Writer Tom Knighton adds:

They're not getting these from the regular, civilian firearm market. They're coming from somewhere else.

What that means is that even if we enacted every possible measure being proposed, including any the Mexican government seems to think we need, the cartels would still be getting guns from black market dealers or military and police personnel in Mexico and other Central American countries.

Americans are not selling fully automatic firearms to Mexicans, for sure.

So, the left’s claim that we need to prevent Americans from supplying themselves to exercise their Second Amendment rights to keep guns out of the hands of Mexican cartel criminals is total horse sh*t.
