California is finally set to lose its special (and far more stringent) emissions rules that compliant Democrats in Congress allowed then to enforce for decades.
This absurd situation was just another way extreme, left-wing Democrat tried to enforce defacto greenie global warming rules on the whole country, even though on paper they were “only” allowing California to have their own special rules.
There are two reasons the above is a true statement. First, Calif. is one of our biggest states and their rules sort of forced manufactures of cars and other products that the left claims affect our climate to satisfy Calif. absurd, draconian rules so that they can sell their products to one of our biggest markets. After all, they can’t make a car just for Calif., and if a huge portion o their sales comes from Calif. customers, they also can’t just stop selling there. That means they have to make products that hew to Calif.’s rules and make ALL of us buy that version.
Secondly, at least 5 or 6 other far-left states gear their own emissions rules based on what Calif. does. So, even though on paper these harsh rules are “only for Calif.”, the truth is, the same rules end up being enacted in several other states.
So, despite that on paper only Calif. is forcing its extreme agenda on its own people and its rules are not enforceable on other states, the actual effect is that we are all stuck living by Calif.’s rules whether we want to or not.
It really is an ingenious sleight of hand and bait and switch game the left has played with Calif.’s special rules. They have been able to deliver a baldfaced lie and say on one hand that “only Calif. gets to do this,” yet on the other still force the whole country to live by Calif.’s idiotic rules and force all of us to their extreme green agenda.
But now, that carveout is finally coming to an end as the Trump administration is set to eliminate Calif.’s special rules.
Sen. Shelley Moore Capito (R-W.Va.), author of a resolution to nix the state’s electric vehicle sales mandate via the Congressional Review Act, and Rep. Kevin Kiley (R-Calif.) confirmed that the White House has scheduled the signings at 11 a.m. on Thursday.
Trump’s signature will finalize his administration’s monthslong effort to thwart California’s authority to set stricter electrification rules for passenger vehicles and commercial trucks, along with higher standards for heavy-duty diesel engines.
Trump’s EPA revoked an earlier version of California’s vehicle emissions rules through an 18-month regulatory process during his first term, but Republicans’ vote last month to expedite the rollback through Congress marked the first time waiver approvals have been considered subject to the CRA since President Bill Clinton signed the law in 1996.
This is GREAT news to the WHILE country!!
