The woke crazies are near my breaking point in California, they are trying to ban certain candies. If they move on to donuts and ice cream, it’s going to be the straw that breaks the camel’s back. There’s gonna be hell to pay.
The ban-happy Democrats in California are again looking to ban the additives in brands like Skittles, jelly beans, Pez, Old El Paso queso sauce, Campbell’s soup, and some bread brands. Why? Because of racism, of course.
“Californians shouldn’t have to worry that the food they buy in their neighborhood grocery store might be full of dangerous additives or toxic chemicals,” said California Assemblymember Jesse Gabriel in a press release, according to Cnet.
The site adds that Gabriel, a Democrat from Encino, is the Chair of the Assembly Committee on Privacy and Consumer Protection.
“This bill will correct for a concerning lack of federal oversight and help protect our kids, public health, and the safety of our food supply,” the lawmaker said of AB 418.
The brands in question could not be manufactured or sold in the state if signed into law.
Naturally, it’s all about racism.
Gabriel says the products need to be banned because they are “marketed to children, low-income consumers, and communities of color.”
Because, of course.
The substances he is targeting are already banned in Europe.
“We know they are harmful and that children are likely eating more of these chemicals than adults. It makes no sense that the same products food manufacturers sell in California are sold in the EU but without these toxic chemicals. We thank Assemblymember Gabriel’s efforts to remove these toxic additives from California’s food supply,” bill supporter Susan Little, the Environmental Working Group’s Governmental Affairs Senior Advocate for California.
