Selected as Ranking Member of a  House Foreign Relations Subcommittee Long Island Congressman Lee Zeldin was surprised to learn that Freshman Rep. Ilhan Omar, a BDS supporter who once accused Israeli Jews of “mind control” over the rest of the world was on the same committee which had an oversight role of US foreign policy.  Zeldin complained about Rep. Omar’s placement on the committee via twitter,

Rep. Omar responded by calling Zeldin Islamophobic

Answering the charge, Zeldin tweeted:

Zeldin’s ISIS mention addressed the revelation that in 2016 Ms. Omar,  then a state legislator wrote a letter to Judge Michael Davis, seeking a light sentence for nine Minnesota men charged with trying to join the terrorist group ISIS.

The national media reported the Zelin/Omar twitter fight as a kind of “tit for tat.” Jew calls Muslim anti-Semite, Muslim calls Jew Islamophobe. As the mainstream media tends to do with this and similar issues, this is a false equivalency. Zeldin based his charge of Antisemitism on Omar’s support of BDS and her tweet about the Jewish powers of hypnosis. Ilhan Omar’s charge of Islamophobia was unfounded and based on the fact that Zeldin criticized her. It’s a typical leftist strategy when they don’t have a real answer; anyone who opposed Barack Obama’s policies was called racist, and anyone who didn’t vote for Hillary Clinton was labeled misogynist.

But this story goes beyond a twitter fight, the antisemitism of the Democratic Party continues to come out of the closet.  And it is reflected in their support of the BDS movement.

The BDS movement grew out of the 2001 UN World Conference Against Racism, held in Durban, South Africa, an anti-Jewish hate fest. Copies of the anti-Semitic work, The Protocols of the Elders of Zion, were sold on conference grounds; anti-Israel protesters jeered participants chanting “Zionism is racism, Israel is apartheid,” and “You have Palestinian blood on your hands”; fliers depicting Hitler with the question, “What if I had won?” circulated among conference attendees. The answer: “There would be NO Israel and NO Palestinian bloodshed.”

The conference was so anti-Semitic that U.S. Secretary of State Colin Powell walked out.

As reported by the organization NGO-Monitor,  NGOs (non-governmental organizations) at the conference urged “a policy of complete and total isolation of Israel as an apartheid state…the imposition of mandatory and comprehensive sanctions and embargoes, the full cessation of all links (diplomatic, economic, social, aid, military cooperation, and training) between all states and Israel. Additionally, it called for condemnation of those states who are supporting, aiding and abetting the Israeli apartheid state and its perpetration of racist crimes against humanity including ethnic cleansing, acts of genocide.”

BDS which grew from that anti-Semitic conference is anti-Semitic because it bases its attacks on fabricated tales of human rights violations, double standards, comparisons to apartheid South Africa, and false accusations of “war crimes.”  This movement has just one purpose, to delegitimize Israel and to deny the Jewish people their right to self-determination. The present leaders of the BDS movement support a “one-state solution” which will destroy Israel as the Jewish state.  Both the U.S. State Department and Pope Francis have declared that denying that the Jews have the right to have their own country, is a form of anti-Semitism.

Congress has been working on an anti-BDS bill based on the premise that Antisemitism is as evil as any other form of bigotry. The Democratic party is trying to defeat the legislation saying the law would restrict First Amendment free speech. Their free speech excuse is hypocritical.  They didn’t care about free speech when the Obama administration attempted to force the Washington  Redskins to change their name by taking away their trademarks. Nor free speech matter when Obama’s DOJ sued a group of nuns, the Little Sisters of the Poor because they wouldn’t recognize birth control as part of their company health plan, or even when liberal Oregon tried to force an observant Christian baker to make a cake for a same-sex wedding. The only thing different in the case of the anti-BDS bill is that BDS is only an anti-Semitic movement. This is the Democratic Party in Congress with too many anti-Semitic members and non-anti-Semites who are quiet about their colleagues’ hatred. Not one Democratic Congressman or Senator ever complained about Barack Obama’s antisemitism, nor do they complain about their party’s hatred today.

The Senate anti-BDS bill restricts the U.S. government from working with vendors that participate in BDS, the same way previous efforts restricts the government dealing with racist, misogynistic, or other biased companies. It also allows state and local governments to make the same restrictions.

The anti-BDS bill is expected to pass the GOP-Controlled Senate this week despite that twenty-two Senate Democrats voted against cloture, trying to stop the bill’s advancement in the upper chamber last week.

An anti-BDS bill is most-probably dead-on-arrival in the Democratic-controlled House, especially when one considers the Democratic Party has become more anti-Semitic and anti-Israel recent years. The House version is watered-down from the Senate one. The House bill allows the president discretion to make exceptions enabling the federal government to work with companies that participate in BDS.  Surely that wouldn’t matter as long as Trump or other Republicans have the White House, but another anti-Semitic Democrat in the oval office such as Barack Obama would render the bill useless.

It doesn’t help that some of the most recognizable newbies in the Democratic House are pro-BDS. These include Reps. Rashida Tlaib (D-MI), Ilhan Omar (D-MN.), and of course Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.), the most prominent members of the new crop of Democrats, is also an outspoken supporter of the movement.

Adding fuel to the anti-Semitic fire, after her twitter fight with Zeldin, Rep Omar retweet a message claiming Israel is a Democracy for Jews only and added her own hatred to the battle.

Who are the “they and them” Rep. Omar mentioned? It is clear that she is talking about the Jews, either American, Israeli or both. She is also lying. Every citizen of Israel can vote and run for office. That includes the 18% of the country who are Muslim and the other 8% who are non-Jewish or Muslim Israelis. Every citizen of Israel is eligible to run for public office. Arab Muslims are serving in the Israeli government, serving as judges, and even serving in the IDF.

Omar’s statement is meant to label Jews as bigots and is an anti-Semitic lie.

Joining in the fun is fellow BDS supporter Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, who publicly bragged about her new friendship with anti-Semitic British Labor party head Jeremy Corbyn.

Honor? Corbyn has been widely criticized for being anti-Semitic even by members of his own party.  Does Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez support Corbyn’s Antisemitism? Or is she not intelligent enough to try and know with whom she is talking.

At HotAir, my friend Ed Morrissey wrote  Baggage Claim: AOC Celebrates Corbyn Call For Some Reason which correctly disputes CNN’s claim” Corbyn has faced criticism for his handling of the anti-Semitism crisis that has engulfed the party.” Ed response,  “Corbyn isn’t “handling the anti-Semitism crisis” in the Labour Party; he is the anti-Semitism crisis in the Labour Party. The full article is a must-read.

Along with Ocasio-Cortez, Rep. Omar, and other Democrats who publicly announced their support for BDS, the Democratic party’s refusal to fight the anti-Semitic BDS movement, and the silence of party leaders, should legitimately label the Democratic party as bigoted–the anti-Semitic kind.
