One of our heroes and a great friend to Liberty Alliance, retired Lt. Col. and former Congressman Allen West (R-FL), recently spoke at the Vitae Foundations annual banquet in Columbia, Missouri where he opined on the fight to end abortion [note: I call him Lt. Col. Mensch because he IS a mensch-Jeff]
West espoused a great hope in the incoming Trump administration, particularly on the issue of life.
“Right now, this administration has an opportunity. They don’t have a mandate. We have an opportunity to go back and tell the American people what makes America great.”
West also told the gathered crowd that the Obama era had helped speed along the decimation of the American family, and the only way to fix the damage from the progressive left’s assault on our families was to return to the ideals of faith, family, individual responsibility and entrepreneurship. “We have an opportunity to destroy progressive socialism,” West told the crowd. “We’ve got an opportunity to strike before they strike back. It’s coming and it’s going to be a vicious counterattack.”
West further contended that while we may not be able to abolish abortion now, the left would fight tooth and nail for the “right” to murder their own children, we could at the very least minimize the influence the abortion industry had in politics and culture.
“No one wants to be part of a death culture, but if we’re not careful, that could be the legacy we pass on. We will not be truly blessed as a nation until we right this wrong,” West said.
“I came from the same neighborhood as Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Since the Roe decision, almost 15 million African American children won’t know about Dr. King’s dream.”
Later, West said President-elect Donald Trump has the opportunity to make positive changes for families in America. He also urged pro-lifers to not give up or become complacent, but to use the election of pro-life leaders to go on the offensive… “I cannot think of … a better time to go on the offensive for the United States of America,” West added. “Our first inalienable right is Life.”
West is right; Mr. Trump’s election is a great opportunity for the pro-life movement to make important strides and save countless lives. President-elect Trump can greatly influence the fight for life by appointing pro-life judges to all of the upcoming federal bench openings, as well as the handful of likely vacancies on the Supreme Court itself. The question is, will we take the opportunity to advance our cause? The time is now; we must press our advantage. Contact your local reps., your state leaders, and your nationally elected representatives and tell them that we demand action for life. The cause is too important. The issue too vital for us to simply “hope” that President-elect Trump does the right thing.
Let us work together, with our legislators, to force our soon-to-be-President’s hand and begin the fight to save lives… NOW.
