It is a truism in politics that it’s not the mistake that hurts you it’s the cover-up. The screwed up Obamacare launch and the President’s lie controversy would have been done weeks ago if Obama admitted his mistake and apologized. But the President’s desperate attempts to cover-up and attack people who talk about the lie he made to promote his healthcare plan is hurting his credibility. Its why Gallup shows his approval dropping to 39% and Rasmussen also shows a decline in Obama’s approval.
If yesterday is any indication, the Obama administration is still unwilling to come clean. The White House met with health insurers yesterday and asked for help in quelling public concern regarding the cancellation of insurance plans under Obamacare.
In a meeting at the White House, Obama’s chief of staff Denis McDonough asked insurance executives to explain to customers who are losing their plans what new options are available under ObamaCare and what new subsidies they might qualify for.
“He emphasized the need for all involved in the marketplaces, including the administration, issuers and other stakeholders, both federal and private, to ramp up communication and education efforts to consumers who have received or might receive letters about their individual market plans changing,” White House press secretary Jay Carney said.
Obviously these guys don’t get it, of course they are all eligible to get new healthcare plans, but a recent study reveals the average person moving to the exchange is facing a 41% increase, most of them will not be receiving the government subsidies. We also know that those who can find a plan at the same or lower rates are facing a very limited choice of doctors.
And lets not forget the other issue fueling the controversy:
“Just stop. Stop,” Boehner spokesman Brendan Buck said. “Stop and admit you sold this health law on a central promise that is flat-out untrue. Have enough respect for the people who elected you to be honest. No one is being fooled anymore.”
It’s time for the President to face the truth, it’s not the GOP, the Media or the insurance companies, at the heart of this controversy is the fact that he lied to the American people and voters are not stupid enough to forget that fact, even when he gets others to swear to his lie.
