This one-sided war during the Cease-Fire continues. Today 3 more Qassams struck the Negev, two of which fell near a school in Sdrot. Since this farce of a truce began at least 45 Qassams have been fired into Israel yet the spineless “Commander- in-Chief” Olmert is exercising what he defines as restraint (and what the terrorists are perceiving as weakness). Ynet is reporting that once again the PM is ignoring the advice of his Defense Minister and his Generals.

Defense Minister Amir Peretz said after six Qassams were fired toward Israeli territory since noon Wednesday that “Israel will rethink its policy of restraint should Palestinian terror groups continue to breach the ceasefire.”
He noted that the continuous fire of Qassam rockets from Gaza into Israel is a blatant violation of the ceasefire. “Israel has no intention to gamble with the safety of its citizens, there is a limit to our restraint,” said Peretz.

Today Olmert regected Peretz’s call. Maybe Israel has no intention to gamble but it sure looks like the Tower of Jello that holds the title of Prime Minister does. The same Ynet story goes on to say:

Following the launching of some 40 Qassams since the agreed upon ceasefire went into effect, army officials are increasingly calling for retaliation, including pinpoint attacks on rocket-launching area and Qassam cells. Ynet has learned that the IDF recently decided to remove artillery batteries that were placed around the Gaza Strip a few months after the disengagement, this following the errant fire on Beit Hanoun and the truce.

Senior IDF officers are demanding more freedom to act, but the political echelon decided that the army would not return fire at Qassam-launching cells as long as the truce remains in effect.

How many people have to be killed or injured before you do somthing Omert. When one of the missles hits a school and kills more children it wil be too late. Do you think the UN Human Rights Commission is going to get involved when Jews die? OLMERT WAKE UP !!! ITS TUCHAS AFEN TISH TIME !!!

Bibi Netanyahu seems to agree. Today he was at a Likud Party Chanukah candle lighting ceremony and after he lit the Chanukiah he lit-into Olmert.

“A leader needs to be an active authority, not a passive one – not [one of] restraint and inaction. I call on the prime minister to put an end to this restraint,” said Bibi, “it’s absurd that we are restricting ourselves on this matter – untie the army’s hands and let it act against the Qassams.

Olmert says that we are tired of responding to the attacks, but the truth is that it is not the people who are tired – Olmert is the one who is tired. There is only one thing that is worse than a people which has lost faith in its leaders, and that is leaders who have lost faith in the people”

“Netanyahu went on to say that Olmert should resign and make room for responsible leadership, something that has been in many of our prayers for a long time.

Arutz Sheva Reports this morning that Olmert and Abbas are racing against time to have a meeting before a Qassam kills somebody and Israel is forced to retaliate.

Olmert and Abbas: Racing Against Rocket Attacks
10:24 Dec 22, ’06 / 1 Tevet 5767 by Tzvi Ben Gedalyahu

Prime Minister Ehud Olmert and Palestinian Authority chairman Mahmoud Abbas are racing against the clock to set up a meeting before a lethal Kassam rocket attack forces Israel to retaliate.

Knesset Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee chairman Tzachi HaNegbi (Kadima) told Voice of Israel government radio Friday morning that counter-terrorist actions are inevitable. More than 45 Kassam rockets have been launched from Gaza against Israel since the November 26 truce went into effect. HaNegbi supported Prime Minister Ehud Olmert’s policy of restraint on the assumption that it will give Israel a diplomatic advantage. He said that the world will give Israel more “diplomatic credit” Israel for having held its end of the Gaza ceasefire obligation despite the incessant attacks against her

According to an Item in the JPost Olmert and Abbas will be spending Christmas together.

Prime Minister Ehud Olmert and Palestinian Authority Chairman Mahmoud Abbas are set meet this Monday, the Palestinian news agency Ma’an reported on Friday. The meeting was arranged after it was agreed that the Palestinians would determine the identities of the prisoners released in an exchange deal with Israel, Army Radio reported.
