From 10:00pm eastern on January 28th, through 12:00 noon the next day, The Lid along with some of our partner Liberty Alliance blogs ran a poll getting reader reactions to the Fox News Iowa GOP Debate, only four days prior to the Iowa caucuses, the first time Americans will actually place votes on the road to the 2016 presidential election.

A little over 900 people participated in the poll, and they were all readers of one of these great Liberty Alliance web sites; Conservative ByteConstitution.com, Eagle Rising, Freedomoutpost.com ,  Liberty Alliance,  Liberty Unyielding, MinuteMen News, Red Right Republic, Saving our FutureThe Lid and The Mental Recession

Lets get to the results.

The first question asked was who won the first debate, the results here weren’t even close Carly Fiorina generated over half the votes in a four-person race. Please don’t tell Rick Santorum that he got only 12%. He spent the GOP debate screaming at the cameras, he might start screaming again.  If someone who selected Jim Gilmore reads the results, please answer this question in the comments below. Why?

Next we asked who won the main stage debate and the results were pretty surprising. Many pundits declared Marco Rubio the winner and to a lesser extent Jeb Bush and Rand Paul. Ted Cruz was suggested as the loser amongst the leading candidates.  Our readers had a different opinion Cruz was the big winner and Rand Paul 4% behind at number two. Rubio was 3rd, ten percent less than Cruz. Bush who many thought had a good debate was next to last at only 3%

We asked who would you vote for if your state’s primaries were today. It was a tie between Trump and Cruz at 30%, followed by Paul at 15% and Rubio at 10%. Nobody else received more than 3% indicating that perhaps it’s time for many of those candidates to drop out.

The last two questions were simple Yes or No.  Most readers (85%) said that the debate did not change their minds about their favorite candidate. And as expected most readers (57%) felt that Donald Trump’s decision to boycott this debate was the right thing to do.

The most gratifying of all the numbers was that 96% of those who participated in this poll found it interesting.  That’s the reason why we blog, to provide our readers with interesting and accurate content.

The next debate will be on Saturday Night February 6th, and we’d like to run another poll about that debate.  If you have any suggestions on how to make these polls better please leave a message in the comments section.

Thank you again for participation.
