I have a long bookmark list of websites I go through three or four times a day to find articles that interest me and hopefully you my readers. One of them is the ADL site. Its toward the bottom of the list because quite frankly usually their information is a reaction to something already reported on. Today as I was having my cheese omelette lunch this strange press release caught my eye”
European Governments Urged to Stay Focused on Combating Anti-Semitism and Hate
New York, NY, June 8, 2007 The Anti-Defamation League (ADL) today urged governments of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) “to maintain a distinct focus on combating anti-Semitism” at a conference on new challenges in the fight against discrimination and intolerance.
ADL presented recommendations to the Conference on Combating Discrimination and Promoting Mutual Respect and Understanding, which opened yesterday in Bucharest, Romania. Stacy Burdett, ADL Associate Director of Government and National Affairs, is a Public Advisor to the U.S. delegation led by Representative Eric Cantor (R-VA). Read the full article here
Why is this strange? The ADL is a wonderful organization but sometimes it wastes time, effort and resources where it doesn’t belong. In recent months, instead of following its own advice above, the ADL has issued the folloing press releases:
- ADL Welcomes Bipartisan Agreement On Immigration Reform
- Senator Kennedy Issues Call For Meaningful Immigration Reform
- ADL Disappointed With Supreme Court Ruling On Partial Birth Abortion Act
- L.A. Area Organizations Issue Declaration For Human Rights For Immigrants
- ADL Gets Firsthand Look At U.S. Border Security And Immigration Issues on Mission to Phoenix, AZ
- ADL Calls Anti-Asian Segment On New York’s WFNY Radio “Offensive And Repugnant”
- Imus’ Suspension For Racist Remarks ‘A Long Time In Coming’
- ADL Applauds Arrests in Virginia Church Vandalism Cases
If you want to argue that the bottom three are related to anti-Semitism, I might give you that, but since when are abortion and protecting America’s borders staying “Focused on Combating Anti-Semitism and Hate” as the ADL press release is demanding from Europe. Methinks the ADL is playing a little do what I say not as I do.
And Now For Something Completely Different
I got this from a reader and had to share:
Three things to think about:
2. The Constitution
3. The Ten Commandments
COWS: Is it just me, or does anyone else find it amazing that our government can track a single cow born in Canada almost three years ago, right to the stall where she sleeps in the state of Washington? And, they tracked her calves right to their stalls. But they are unable to locate 11 million illegal aliens wandering around our country. Maybe we should give each of them a cow.
THE CONSTITUTION: They keep talking about drafting a Constitution for Iraq . Why don’t we just give them ours? It was written by a lot of really smart guys, it has worked for over 200 years, and we’re not using it anymore.
THE TEN COMMANDMENTS: The real reason that we can’t have the Ten Commandments posted in a courthouse is this: You cannot post “Thou Shalt Not Steal,” “Thou Shalt Not Commit Adultery”, and “Thou Shall Not Lie” in a building full of lawyers, judges and politicians. It creates a hostile work environment.
