One of the highlights of this year’s State of the Union Address was Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg seemed to fall asleep during the President’s repetition of every policy he ever proposed. We now know she wasn’t sleeping, she was a bit loopy (from alcohol as opposed to her normal “loopiness” caused by extreme progressiveness damaging her judement.

As reported by WNEW-TV

In a lighthearted moment before an audience at George Washington University in Washington, D.C., Thursday night, the 81-year-old Ginsburg cracked up telling the story that she “wasn’t 100 percent sober” before going to the State of the Union.

“The audience – for the most part – is awake because they’re bobbing up and down all the time and we sit there stone-faced, sober judges,” Ginsburg said. “At least I wasn’t 100 percent sober because before we went to the State of the Union we had dinner.”

Ginsburg said that Justice Anthony Kennedy was the culprit, bringing wine to dinner.

“Justice Kennedy brought in … it was an Opus something or other, very fine California wine that Justice Kennedy brought and I vowed this year just sparkling water, stay away from the wine,” Ginsburg told the audience. “But in the end, the dinner was so delicious, it needed wine to accompany it.”

She continued: “So I got a call when I came home from one of my granddaughters and she said, ‘Bubbe, you were sleeping at the State of the Union.” [Bubbe is Yiddish for grandma]

America dodged a bullet, thank God Justice Ginsburg is a sleepy drunk. Can you imagine if she was one of those angry drunks? She might have gone over to one of the conservative Justices like Thomas or Scalia and popped them one in their face? Or even worse what if she was one of those wild drunk and stripped naked and started dancing on the chair? Can you imagine how many Americans would have gone blind?

The best line about Ginsburg’s inebriation was made by Justice Scalia who was on the stage with Ginsburg Thursday.  After Justice Ginsburg finished her story about being drunk Scalia quipped,  “Well, that’s the first intelligent thing you’ve done.” Bravo Justice Scalia, Bravo!
