Warning the following post is going to refer to many of the Yiddish words for penis:

Okay Trump’s comments last were inappropriate, but were they any different than any of his other comments?

The words in question were delivered by GOP Candidate Donald Trump on Monday evening:

“Even a race to Obama, she was gonna beat Obama. I don’t know who would be worse, I don’t know, how could it be worse? But she was going to beat — she was favored to win — and she got schlonged, she lost, I mean she lost,” Trump said, using a vulgar Yiddish word for a man’s penis.

Translating Trump’s expression into English, he was saying what many of Hillary’s supporters claimed, “She was screwed big time!” It wasn’t a misogynistic statement. “Getting schlonged” could be applied to  men, women, and even transgender people who got screwed. The real issue isn’t this verbal outburst, but it’s the last six months of Trump’s statements which are best described as verbal diarrhea.

As far as being vulgar, in Yiddish every word describing an adult penis is considered vulgar. This includes the word that Trump derived his Yiddish from–schlong, which means a large penis (Schlong comes from the Yiddish word shlang which means snake).

The more common term schmuck is another vulgar Yiddish term for penis. Schmuck is like “dork,” it means both penis and a person that is totally inept as in “you let that schmuck fix my car?” More vulgar than schmuck and more common than schlong is the word putz. Putz is also a penis, but used as a descriptor it’s an insult.  If you call someone a putz you are saying they are a creep, a jerk, or even a crook, as in “Can you believe what that putz charged me to fix my car?”

As I mentioned, the words above are considered vulgar and not used in polite company or when the kindelah (children) are around. The words referring to a baby’s penis like schmeckleh don’t have the same vulgar connotation. As in “It is only three days after Johnny’s bris, make sure to change the bandage on his little schmeckleh. As you may have imagined the word changes as the little boy grows up. A baby has a schmeckleh, a youth has a schmeckle, an adult has a schmuck, and the hyperbolic man has a schlong.

Folks, in the wide expanse of crude things Donald Trump has said during this campaign (and should rightly be criticized for) schlong is amongst the tamest. The issue really shouldn’t be this word, the issue should be wide expanse of stupid and nasty things Trump has said. More than just schlong, Trump’s total lack of verbal boundaries just one more reason he shouldn’t sit in the oval office.
